Chafee will Support Bolton

The Republicans are falling into line on the nomination of John Bolton to the US Ambassador to the United Nations. There has been a concerted effort by the Democrats to paint him as a mean person. While that may not get you invited to a cocktail party or two, and may be against the perceived Democratic way {ed. -??????????}., at the end of the day it will not keep Bolton out of the UN position.

They tried to pry the more moderate Republicans off and it failed. Senator Kerry ran an online ad campaign again Chafee, it failed. The Democrats ran a smear campaign against Bolton, it failed. God Bless these guys. It is not over yet, but there standing up for the majority to pick their own government is a huge achievement.

One of the moderate Republicans who has been wavering on the nomination of John R. Bolton to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said Tuesday he will reluctantly support the embattled nominee.

Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee’s decision gives momentum to Bolton ahead of a Senate Foreign Relations Committee vote Thursday. Chafee said he decided to support Bolton because he is President Bush’s choice.

“I won’t deny a lot of the information certainly brings great pause, but I fight the administration on so many issues; this is one of those that I’ve been with them on — to appoint their team,” Chafee said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Weeks of inquiry into Bolton’s conduct in office also left three other GOP members of the committee leaning toward supporting Bolton or at least unwilling to write him off.

On Tuesday, the first workday for the Senate after a weeklong break, other Republicans predicted unified GOP support for Bolton when the committee votes.

“I think our team will be together,” Sen. George Allen, R-Va., said Tuesday.

The UN is a corrupt and slovenly institution. As the most powerful member and as the country that foots most of the bill, we need a strong character to come in and demand change. Kofi and Company have run the UN like a 3rd World Dictatorship and the time for that has come to an end.

So a little grumpy, a little course, and the perception that Bolton is there to Woop Ass is what it takes to make the United Nations be a better place, so much the better. However, the globalists in the democratic party that would love to see the USA lose power to the UN are going to have to wait a little longer to see it happen.

[...] ctually supporting Kofi Annan over John Bolton was a good political strategy for the Dems, now it looks like they will lose their unprincipled and ridiculous attempt to end his nomination [...]

When we all listened to the CIA and DOD analysts tell us there were lots of WMD in Iraq, then had David Kay of the ISG say they/we were “all wrong” and that the analysts, when shown the facts on the ground, said never thought about that way .. then why are we beating up this guy, Bouton, who had the initiative to aggressively question a government analyst ?
