Backlash, You Bet

Last year when Gay Marriage Polls were all the rage and many news outlets were claiming that a Constitutional Amendment was not preferred by Americans and would never pass, I felt that it would be only a matter of time before Americans were pushed to the point where there was no other option and a backlash would occur. The Gay Right Movement could not leave well enough alone an opt for a Civil Union scenario that would have been more acceptable my the American public. They would have attained all the same rights, but would not be called Marriage. They had to go further. At the time many Americans did not want to consider a change in the Constitution because that would only be used as a final option. Looks like that final option may be closer than they thought.

Of course the media and the activists took this somehow as a sign to push the envelop. How could they have misread the signs? The results of 13 States making their voice of displeasure clear by banning gay marriage, since Massachusetts imposed gay Marriage upon the state, should have been a sign.

Now it appears that the the backlash is not yet completed as in the latest Gallup Poll:

Public opposition to “marriages” between homosexuals is at an all-time high, according to a poll released yesterday.
When asked whether they thought same-sex “marriages” should be recognized by the law as valid and come with the same rights as traditional marriages, 68 percent of the respondents in the CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll said they should not.
Twenty-eight percent said same-sex “marriages” should be valid and 4 percent had no opinion. The survey of 443 adults was conducted March 18 to 20.

A similar poll by Gallup last year found that 55 percent thought homosexual “marriages” should not be valid, while 42 percent said they should be recognized.

Polipundit also seems to think the same and has some interesting ideas as well.

The Democratic Party and their Liberal cohorts make a habit out of continuously misreading and interpreting polls. What’s next? Terri Schiavo? It is remarkable how out of touch that they seem to be with mainstream America and only operate in their echo chamber listening to those who only agree with their agenda. The Democratic Party on the wrong side of another issue for the 2006 Elections.
