Bloggers Beware

McCain Feingold

Not to be paranoid or anything.

James Miller over at Tech Central Station has a round up of the tools that the MSM and the Government can use to keep bloggers from disrupting  their fiefdom.

As bloggers, we must be constantly wary as we are disrupting two very powerful and coordinating organizations. Government and the Press make it out to be that they have a professional adversarial relationship. However, a politician that does not get press typically does not remain a politician. And a reporter who does not get quotes does not remain a reporter. So there is a vested interest on both sides to play nice. Bloggers are a new dynamic that scares both groups. I agree with James Miller that they will combine to keep bloggers from gaining power, and the only way for bloggers to change the dynamic is to rally together.

The main benefit that bloggers share is the ability to rapidly spread the word, ala Patrick Henry, and mobilize in the defense of one another.

UPDATE: Go over to Wizbang and see what would have happenned if the bloggers had not raised their voices.

UPDATE 2: La Shawn Barber has a fanatastic post on the FEC, including a great link to the Library of Congress definition of “serial publications” that would include bloggers.
