Natalee Holloway Missing; Enter JOE MAMMANA; I want this little smug punk named Joran, “to get the little grin off his face”

On Rita Cosby’s, ‘Live & Direct’ for Sept. 28th, Beth Twitty and Joe Mammana appear as a rather interesting interview duo. During the interview they discuss Beth Twitty’s purpose for being in Philadelphia, PA to meet with attorneys. Joe Mammana also adds some refreshing less than PC commentary about his true feelings and “no beating around the bush” approach to his involvement in this case. No one ever need to ask Joe Mammana a second time how he really feels. For a taste of Joe’s no nonsense approach take a look:

I want this little smug punk named Joran, or whatever his name is, to realize, to get the little grin off his face, and that light that he sees at the end of the tunnel is a train coming head on.

One interesting point learned in this interview is the reference bringing on a PR specialist. I had always wondered why the Holloway/Twitty’s families did not have one to handle their affairs. Certainly the Aruban government had one and also formulated the ArubaTruth.com blog as well.

COSBY: And we have exclusive new information in the Natalee Holloway case tonight. We’re learning about new members of the team that will not give up in their search for Natalee on the island of Aruba. Beth Holloway Twitty joins me now live from Philadelphia. She’s also joined with philanthropist Joe Mammana, who has donated a lot of money in support of finding Natalee.

Beth, first to you. Why are you in Philadelphia? I understand you now have a new addition, an attorney, in the case. Tell us about it.

BETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY: Well, I did meet with an attorney today, Rita. And you know, we really just don’t want to leave any stone unturned. And if there’s any other avenue that we can pursue, you know, we want to do that. We just really don’t—we just really haven’t been able to look at any of our options here. So you know, that’s kind of where we are, and we’re just beginning this process.

COSBY: Now, this attorney is Marty Trichon. Tell us a little bit about him, if you could, Beth or Joe, either one of you.

JOE MAMMANA: Well, how’re you doing, Rita? Marty is one of my attorneys, who’s been on retainer, works with my company. He’s a former prosecutor. He’s hard-core, doesn’t leave any stones unturned. And he’s a little different than I. He always believes I over E—intellect over emotion. So intellectually, he’s putting everything together. He’s going to circle the wagons in both directions and sit and we’re going to review what is the best option to move forward.

We’re also bringing in a gentleman named Eliot Curson (ph). We’ll be meeting with him tomorrow in Philadelphia. He was involved in 1980 with President Reagan and his—I guess his reelection campaign. So we’re bringing a public relation person in. And again, we’re going to put a team together that will be second to none, and we’ll follow their advice.

COSBY: And Joe, what are some of the options that both of you are looking at?

MAMMANA: Well, you know, I can speak for myself. I won’t speak for Beth. But my options are—personally, I would like to go after the island of Aruba in every way possible. These people have not been honest. They have not been fair. I personally want to boycott it and go for a national boycott of the island of Aruba.

I want this little smug punk named Joran, or whatever his name is, to realize, to get the little grin off his face, and that light that he sees at the end of the tunnel is a train coming head on. I am not going to until we know where Natalee Holloway is and until Beth Twitty can put her head on a pillow at night and go to sleep peacefully.

COSBY: And she certainly deserves that. But I want to show you a comment because Joran, as you know, did an interview recently with “A Current Affair.” A lot of us were just very shocked at even some of the inconsistencies within his own interview. Let me just show a little clip and get your reaction.

Whatever (commonsense) Theorys, that’s what they are. But not for long with JVDS screwing up on camera every 5 seconds. Self incrimination is a b. If it was me missing in Aruba, I would hope my mom would do all of this for me. I knw for a fact if this was my daughter I would. Actually anyone in my family. Why? I’m a strong person just like BHT. I pray for her and her family.

Just because you do not agree with what was said does not make is “non-refreshing pc commentary.” Someone speaking their mind generally does not exist in today’s society especially when on TV. Sorry.

Unlike you most people repay their debt to society and come out of it as a better, reformed person I guess you deem them evil for life? Rather interesting contrast to the defense you make for a possible and alleged rapist/murderer.

The idea that you think that a PR person would not be needed when battling a team of them for a gov’t makes me wonder about your “namesake” commonsense.

Since Joe is on the case now Beth can just go home and watch the news for any breaking news concerning the case.Joe knows how to get even,he does not believe in an eye for an eye,he believes in two for one.Get out of the way Beth and let;s see if Joe has changed from his old documented ways.So far the offer of money has not produced any results. In my opinion he will have to resort to his old ways to make any progress in the case. All of teh talk in teh world by so many have not produced any results so I doubt Joe being on the TV screen will produce any results either.

Sure I believe people can change and change for the better and Joe seems to have changed for the better.Everyone deserves a second chance,it is what people make out of that second chance that counts.

I’d like to see the smug look off his face too, and given time that will happen one way or another, but I’m not sure all the bluster and hard guy attitude is going to help get anything done in Aruba. I don’t think being a nice guy is going to work either. They are holding all the cards and they know it. In spite of outright admissions of obstruction of justice, conspiracy and gang rape nothing is being done – and nothing will be done – because the government of Aruba is corrupt.

This story isn’t exactly unique in some ways, and it seems that when you hear of these kinds of things you never hear our government speak up and say “Hey, what have you done with one of our citizens”. I understand we can’t go in and take over, but there have to be economic and diplomatic ways to apply pressure. Does anyone out there have information on this or have a better understanding of why our own government just stands back and seemingly does nothing?

    7. GG on September 29th, 2005 10:19 pm

Yawn. The kool aid drinkers keep saying that Joran was inconsistant, Joran kept contradictiong himself. All he contradicts are the unsubstantiated claims by Beth Twitty that he made certain statements. Not the same thing.

And as for those who say of Joran: hope he keeps talking, he’ll hang himelf–being quizzed by Current Affair is NOTHING compared to the interrogations he underwent, for hours at a time. He could do ten interviews a day, and there would be nothing except Beth’s claims of contradictions against what she supposedly heard.

    8. Pat on September 30th, 2005 1:26 am

It doesn’t matter how much you are interrogated if nothing is done after the fact.

If Joe Mamana wants to bring hell , he’s welcome to do so. As long he brings hell on Joran van der Sloot (the family van der Sloot), Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. NOT THE ARUBAN PEOPLE, LIKE MYSELF.
I am so fed up with what these 3 people have done. They Are not even Local people and they have just played around with the authorities which I admit aren’t the brightest in the world because they never came across a situation like this.
Let me make one thing also clear, because we are part of the kingdom of the Netherlands, the only thing we can’t do anything about is the Justice System, which in my opinion is the best one in the world if used properly, but when Dutch people are involved it becomes very fraudulent. That’s why the Prime Minister of Aruba took Karen Jansen as head prosecutor from the case and put a local Aruban Prosecutor to head the case. That is why the Head Chief investigator, Jan van der Straten (Van der sloots godfather) was released from the team and when his contract with the Aruban force has ended, wasn’t prolonged by the Aruban Government. To make things clear here Jan van der Straten was put in the Police force by the Netherlands and was working for the Netherlands in the Aruban police force.
My point is that The Aruban Government took these two people from this case because they feel that they have been covering up things in this case and therefore an internal investigation is beeing done by the Aruban Government and the Aruba intelegance agency. (The Minister of Justice clearly voiced his point of view on the Media that if only Arubans were investigating the case it would have ended a long time already.)

The sad part is that when the Aruba government decided to take Karen Jansen en Jan van der Straten of the case the Netherlands (government) stated that aruba is walking on thin ice and should not/ is not authorized to touch the dutch personal that are in the Aruban force or prosecuters office that are working for the Netherlands.

My point is Go to Netherlands and bring Hell on Joran over there in the City of Arnhem and not on my Island. Since he has been lying again and changing stories the best way to bring something out is by atacking him personally.
And Joe Mamamma if you want to get rid of them personally, all three of them. Be My guest because this Arubian is just Sick of Joran and his Family and Deepaak Kalpoe and Satish Kalpoe!

The only good thing about Beth and the Joe Revernge-Vengance Tour is that finally this will get her off of TV. Not even the quasi msm stations like Fox can take a chance to be seen as backing this kind of garbage.
That would be a horrendous precedant to set…. Sure, promote the concept that if anyone is unsatisfied with the way their LE has handled a case you just take matters into your own hands…Just horrendous.
Dan Abrams seemed to be holding back so as to not be seen as laughing at her last night regarding suing Aruba.
Does this woman ever get any good advise or does she only take her own advise and surround herself with people that just repeat her own words back to her and tell her what she wants to here

    13. Gabriel Leo on September 30th, 2005 9:13 am

Why does you government stand back and doesn’t do nothing?
I believe The hurricanes may be a reason…..Iraq may be a reason…Venezuela+ Cuba may be a reason, Terrorism problems may be a reason, Korea may be a reason. Your Government doesn’t react in any way because they simply got bigger fishes to fry. Their Interest in Aruba is also to much important than a case of a girl gone missing.
Aruba and Curacao are being used as foreign US bases to keep an eye on south America and these days especially on Venezuela who is on her way to become a comunist country like Cuba. Aruba and Curacao give the US free usage of airports and ports. The US have Navy ships, US Coast Guards coming in and out of our harbors and have Fighter jets coming in and out and using aruba and Curacao as US bases. Right now The Aruban Government and the US Government are building a US Naval Base on Aruba known as FOL (Forward Operating Location).
Your Government has just to much interest and may I say Important interest in Aruba to just stand up one day and say let’s all boycott Aruba. At least they are thinking straight. And believe me you guys have the best inteligence in the entire world. If something was wrong your government would have certainly done something by now, don’t you think?
Ow and May i remind you also that the Biggest Oil Refinary in the Caribbean is on Aruba and it’s an American one also. We refine the oil over here to be used in the US by you guys over there in the states. Ever heard of the Texas Giant Valero/Coastal?

My first post in this thread was deleted. Why? Did I say anything that was libelous? No. Not even close. Lewd – no. In poor taste or inappropriate. No. So why was it deleted? Because maybe I don’t agree with you folks on all issues. Let’s be honest. You ask for no personal attacks. But yet you attack Joran, Deepak, and Satish. Why? They have not been found guilty of anything. I asked for some pretty normal things. Like my wish that on day someone interviewing BHT would ask to be shown proof of her claims. Or how being drunk does not constitute being raped.
“Unlike you most people repay their debt to society and come out of it as a better, reformed person I guess you deem them evil for life? Rather interesting contrast to the defense you make for a possible and alleged rapist/murderer.”
I have never commited a crime, so I have no debt to repay. Did Joe pay his. Yes. Did he speak like a thug on tv. Yes. But that is the difference here. Joe was found guilty of a crime, Joran has not. Don’t you think it makes it wrong to keep calling someone guilty who has not been found guilty of anything? Do you really think that the whole court system of Aruba is so screwed up that they would really let a murder go free, which would have no benefit for that countries image? My point always has been that just because BHT says something, that does not make it true.
You guys have your position on this case. I admire that. I am trying to show a counter-point to your point. I have not done this in any kind of tasteless way. I don’t deserve to be censored because of this. I am not the only one writing who thinks the glass is half full, not half empty.

Joe knows you have to play hardball with the government of Aruba and their Dutch judges. Now Beth has Joe on her side and he has the muscle and financial resources and the sky’s the limit. Take that train full throttle and don’t stop until Natalee is returned to her mother and her country. God Bless Joe Mammana!!!

We cannot change what went on with this 3 month investigation in Aruba. Seems alot of us wish we could. But the Aruban authorities, for whatever reason, have claimed there’s not enough evidence to hold these kids any longer. We were all surprised as well when the trio’s travel restrictions were lifted by a judge.

The numerous speculations and exaggerations (mostly created by the press) have made it extremely difficult for one to really get a handle on the “supposedly real” information that the Aruban police have in their possession.

Since Katrina hit and these kids were let free, too much unsubstanciated information has flown everywhere. I’m as disappointed as anyone else about this case, but I really have to think that the media, perhaps Beth herself included, have created a certain amount of paranoia about the “facts”. I don’t like to admit it, but I have to … I recorded that little audio snippet of an interview (Deepak, by Skeeter) … and I have to admit, it was edited. His voice patterns were different in two answers, not fluid as they should have been.

These are the things I’m talking about that are confusing this issue when these little BEEPS are well aware that they are scott free right now. The Aruban police are already aware that Joran lied, they have been for months, but they let him go. He’s admitted he lied in his little interview with Current Affair, and Nancy Grace, a former prosecutor, keeps harping that the Aruban police should re-arrest him for this when they already KNOW he lied. She even knows this herself. She has a personal vendetta against these kids and jumps to many conclusions of her own, which in turn can cloud the judgement of many viewers when it comes to the real facts of this case.

Don’t get me wrong, I, as well you all, KNOW these kids are responsible in one way or another for her disappearance. But what I’m trying to say here is that the current “heresay” evidence that’s been floating around the media since the kids have been set free seems at times almost ridiculous. The Aruban police force and judicial system have claimed they’ve done their job and have no evidence to charge these three kids. Poor Beth won’t let up (I can’t blame her), the media won’t stop going around in circles reporting useless information that will never have these kids re-arrested and charged with anything. When is this going to end?

What worries me, is the possiblity of real hard evidence in the future. It’s not nice to say, but I don’t have a lot of faith in the Aruban police force, or the authorites down there. I don’t really know what their policy on this case is right now. What if some hard evidence suddenly appeared down there? Would WE find out about it? Would the evidence “disappear”? I’m trying not to be negative here, but I’ve seen the performance of this investigation and I still have a bitter taste in my mouth about it. I’m not accusing the Aruban authorities of anything. I’m simply WONDERING about them. I’ve heard current reports that the Arubans claim this is still an ongoing investigation. IS it?

I think my point here is this: since the Three Muskateers have been been freed from custody, uncharged with anything, this case has turned into a media driven fiasco consisting of rude remarks, seemingly edited audio interviews, heresay and more heresay … Joran has and may keep trying to sway the world’s “verdict” about him with interviews. Even the National Enquirer, one of the most unrespected tabloids in the U.S., is claiming that Joran is twisting his accounts in every direction. Dr. Phil has gotten in on the action, demanding a full scale boycott of U.S. travel to Aruba. If this media action doesn’t stop, how will it all affect the Aruban’s feelings on this investigation? No-one but the Aruban authorities have any jurisdiction to investigate this case, and what I’m wondering is this: Will the constant battering from the U.S. media have any effect on the future performance of this case if in fact some evidence DOES come to light. Could the Arubans, for spite, hide this evidence? Let’s face it, I think from what we’ve seen over the summer, the Arubans are upset enough with the ridicule that’s been pointed their way.

I’m not defending the Arubans in any way, shape or form. I’m also not accusing them of anything. But we have to wonder….is there a solution here? We can’t indict the island of Aruba and charge them with “performing a bad investigation”. We can threaten the island with boycotts. People can threaten the Three Muskateers or Joran’s parents. The only country that can re-arrest these people is Aruba. The ball seems to in their court. So how does the opposing entourage plan their next shot with no options?

I think at this point, alot of people have to realize that there is a very good possibility that this case may very well go unsolved (Not that it couldn’t have been by now if the proper components were in place in the Aruban police department) and if it does, my God, will the press, (And let’s pray to God, NOT Beth) still be covering this thing?

I can only think of two more things to say. The more you pressure someone to solve a case like this when they “claim” they don’t have sufficient evidence, the angrier you’re going to make them.

And Beth I know how you feel, personally that is, and I hope you come to some closure with your tragedy as soon as possible. The majority of the world does as well.

commonsense i also read what joe had to say and i and many others agree with you , there is no need for name calling and threats but rest asure if he did not make me shake and shiver than i know for sure Aruba is not going to shake or shiver by his threats , it just shows how very very bad things have gotten please people keep in mind that you will never kill a whole country with 1 or 2 threats but i have 1 question for joeand honestly i ask in all due respect, how are you going to boycott nation wide when in Canada where i live there is no news coverage what so ever of this mystery of NH it is just not happenening here , also nothing on CNN so i get on here every once in awhile to see whats going on and to tell you the truth its the same news on here as was 3 months ago and i mean of the facts which there still are none at all , it is all so very sad when it comes down to name calling and threats and at the end of the day no matter what, the big question is where is this young girl natalee??? as for the train comment i heard the other day from a good source that sometimes that same train can come right back at you !!

I am an Aruban living in the U.S. who has grown tired of the mainstream U.S. media’s constant bashing of my country, its government and citizens. I have sympathy for Beth Twitty over the loss of her child. But I’m simply outraged at how she can suggest to boycott a whole country because she can’t get her daughter’s case solved? What do my family members or those other thousands of Aruban families, who work hard to earn an honest living, have anything to do with the case? Why should they be punished for the irresponsible acts of a few teenagers? I’m afraid that Beth is letting her frustrations allow her to lose her reasoning. This negative add campaign against Aruba that she’s leading is going to cause permanent damage to the country’s economy… once the case is solved, is Beth going to go on another national media campaign and tell people it’s fine to go back to Aruba? Probably not.

I noticed the “smirk” on Joran’s face also during the interview. Does that make him guilty??? Of course not. But put yourself in his place? A 17 year old boy. Say he is innocent. There is a girl missing, he has just spent 3 months in jail, the media won’t stop…would you be smirking??? I don’t think so either. I think that smile is something unconscious that is coming out of him because he thinks he has pulled something off.

Now don’t start yelling…I still am not saying murder here. But you can tell by his demeanor…he’s sure not worried.
