Sunday Morning Update

There is a new judge on the island, who is supposed to be having a hearing this morning. Also, Aruba’s justice minister has admitted taking Joran’s father into custody to help make him talk. If this is true, it is another departure from how the US judicial system is run, and may be a sign of desperation by the Aruban judicial system. Rumor also has it that one or two of the suspects may be released.

On a brighter note, the full team from the Texas EquuSearch has arrived on the island Saturday. The final 17 members of the team are on site and ready to search.

The benefit for the Natalee Search was a success, as Fox reported on air today that 25,000 dollars was raised. We are hoping to have pictures from the event later on today.

9:31 AM: Four of the 5 suspects, Steve Croes is not there, are in the court house with the Judge that just recently arrived. They will be meeting individually with the Judge and the prosecutor.

10:40 Steve Croes’s is also at the courthouse now, Fox News is reporting that a decision is due soon.

1:30 PM Steve Croes will be released on Monday. Attorney says that he will be released as the judge has determined there is not enough to hold him.

From FoxNews

The father of the Dutch teen suspect in Natalee Holloway’s disappearance was taken into custody in order to make his son talk, Aruba’s justice minister said Saturday.

In an exclusive interview with FOX News’ Geraldo Rivera, Justice Minister Rudy Croes said the detention of Paul van der Sloot whose son Joran changed the story he told police about the night of Natalee’s disappearance — could be key to solving the case.

“Any moment, we can have the solution,” Croes said. “I don’t think [Joran], if he really participated in the disappearance of this lady, I don’t think he can hold out for so long knowing his father is detained.”

Croes said Joran and two other suspects, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, were surveilled electronically after being released following an initial round of questioning. He implied that information picked up by such surveillance led to their second detention.

“That’s why, after a certain moment, they were seized,” said Croes.

CNN

A judge is to determine Sunday whether five suspects in the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway will remain in jail.

Their hearing was postponed from Saturday because the judge being flown in from the nearby island of Curacao experienced flight delays, said David Kock, defense attorney for 18-year-old Satish Kalpoe, one of the suspects.

Kock said the judge’s flight was delayed several times, and as the afternoon grew later, the decision was made to reschedule the appearances.

A team of Texas search specialists began a full-fledged hunt for Holloway on Saturday.

“I feel very, very optimistic that we are going to take Natalee back to Alabama where she belongs,” said Tim Miller, director and founder of Texas EquuSearch.

The entire 27-member team, including eight divers and four dogs, had arrived by Saturday night. The divers were to search areas of water Sunday.

The question is how long can they detain the father if he’s just being held to make his son talk (confess). Without a body, you need good forensic evidence to prove a crime was commited. They probably have some evidence but that could be explain away by a competent defense attorney. NH’s body was disposed of in the sea and if the body is ever recovered then the scenario of an accidental drowning will be played.

It all boils down to, and the Aruban police know it, is that a confession is needed. Without a confession this case will remain cold. Can the suspects remain stoic? Right now, this is still news item No. 1 thanks to NH’s family, but something will come along that will displaced it such as what happened to Chandra Levy and then the pressure on the police is much lessened and they tend to slack off. Like most of us when the boss isn’t watching we tend to cruise!

I agree, what in the world happened to the being held under “resonable suspicion” or the “pre-meditated murder” As the day goes on, we shall hear the results the Curacao judge comes up with after meeting with each of the detainees.

    3. Gare du Nord on June 26th, 2005 10:31 am

It is very well possible that they are all released and are prohibited to leave the island.
In the meantime investigations can go on. IMHO the fact that there is no body of Natalee (in theory she could still be alive….) makes it very difficult to get any prove
of what happened. There is simply no forensic evidence. Therefore there is no reason that the people who saw Natalee last alive are involved in her disappearance.
Ofcourse there are indications about what happened but nothing is clear yet.
The only way this case can be solved is when one of them confesses……..

    4. FoolsGold on June 26th, 2005 10:41 am

I doubt the Aruba police are skilled at interrogation techniques and I’m sure the prime suspects have all been briefed by the Judge-trainee to keep your mouths shut and don’t believe any lies the police tell to try to cause dissention in our ranks.

Despite the outpouring of sentiment from the USA, most of it probably whipped up by PR flacks in Birmingham, the Aruba tourism authorities know they can weather the storm and the best way to do that is to always have her “missing” and never actually found dead. The Minister of Tourism knows that eventually some other young, attractive white girl will disappear somewhere in the USA and the media will go on to a new obsession despite the desires of McWane corp’s PR flacks.

REALITY: The single most important piece of evidence is always the body. The police have no other evidence, so far i am aware, to bring ANYONE to trial. By now, Natalie is probably fish food. However, we will continue to see more hystrionics because a wealthy barbie doll blonde with a 4 point did a very stupid thing. People who feel they’re special think that nothing will ever happen to them. Corporate media in America LOVES when this sort of think happens because their’s lots and lots of money to be made off of this family’s narcissism….. millions folks… millions. Natalie is not “everbody’s daughter”…. PLEASE!!!! I guess I missed out on the chartered flight to a Caribbean Island, all expenses paid, with spending money so I could get hammered at the club of my choice, and jump into a car with 3 men I’ve met twice and start sucking face with one of them. What’s at the end of a college education…breast implants? Other missing daughters, also, don’t get all of the Southern America on their knees to pray to their very special invisible man- an invisible man who’s of course better than anybody else’s invisible man. 2,100 reports of missing adolescents come into the FBI, per DAY, yet none of those adolescents make it to CNN, Fox, NBS, MSN, Larry King…. let alone Aruiba..
Yes, it’s truly unfair what happens to blondes in our country. This REALLY belongs on Saturday Night Live…. It’d be hysterical!

There are lies upon lies upon lies. With all of the attention this case is getting, any proof of a cover-up would result in long lasting economic problems. Not only would the law enforcement be judged but the judicial system as well. I would believe that PVDS is probably part of a larger corruption system in Aruba, perhaps going all the way up to the PM. With a reputation of corruption and the possibilities that someone could go missing and have it swept under the rug, why would anyone want to vacation there?

S, last I knew, there are two sides of the coin. JVDS’ daddy is a judge-in-training. ‘Don’t really think he wants to jeopardize dad’s position. Per Aruba’s Judicial System -Courts & Judges: All judges appointed by the Queen. Not through elections or political appointments … Appointed for life … Judges must follow special, rigorous training of 6 years, to qualify for appointment.

In the End Of Faith, 2005 PEN Award winner, Sam Harris states: “Of course, criticism and the demand for intellectual honesty are not enough. On the positive side, we need to find creative approaches to ethics, spiritual experience, and the building of strong communities. The scientific study of positive human experience–joy, love, compassion, meditative states, etc.–will undoubtedly play a role here. But this will take time. It need take no time at all, however, for us to realize that the people who invoke God in public discourse are either speaking in empty platitudes or making some very suspect claims about the nature of the world, or about the character of their own experience. We should demand that they start making sense, and if they fail to make sense, we should stop listening to them.”

AllyinMiami: Happy belated B-day and thanks for the compliment.

FoolsGold: If info from Shock, Simian, DanMar and Checkme is accurate, and so far it has proven pretty reliable on those things that can be confirmed, the Aruban interrogators are exceptionally good.

First rule of interrogation — separate the suspects, grill them relentessly and compare stories. Done here.

Second — gather corroborating evidence — cell phone records, security video, witness statements, conduct surveillance. Done here.

Third — Ramp up the pressure. Move them prison from jail, let suspects get a taste of the future if no cooperattion. Done here with move to KIA.

Fourth — If suspect won’t talk, make consequences other than to himself. Done here, with arrest of JVDS’ father.

Fifth rule — Repeat 1 – 4 relentlessly. Done here.

They are very good. My only semi-concern is not moving on the forensic evidence immediately.

Under Aruban law, authorities can interrogate suspects day in and day out for up to 116 days if they meet certain milestones of showing reason to continue. No contact with lawyer or other outside witnesses. 116 days is a long, long time by our standards.

In America, once a suspect “lawyers up”, no interrogation and access must be given to lawyer. Suspect gets a psychological “break”. A confession gained under Aruban techniques would not be admissible in American courts because we would call it “coerced”, in MHO.

I am frustrated, like you. But the Aruban’s interrogation techniques are very impressive to me.

Stay tuned for more from the “Monkeys” , checkme, DanMar. There information is very specific and appears consistent with Aruban law of proof, in my extremely limited knowledge. I am going to hunt around US law today on rules for proving murder without body based on witness statements.

      Ciao, for now.

      BTW, Good morning all.

Are really that stupid with the inconciderate comments about a missing girl?? A girl goes missing, 5 guys are lieing about their stories that evening and that my dear IS A FACT! Even the Aruba police know that or these people wouldn’t be in custody. Across America in most schools there is a traditional class trip for graduating students. My sister went to Cancun, so stories like this not only hit close to home but educate our society that we need to be cautious no matter what.
By the way, if your so inclined to speak of facts, no one knows whether she was drunk, no one knows if she “jumped” into the car with the 3 guys willing, this is all speculation as well… you idiot.

      peace.

no one can be blamed until objective proof is found. pointing fingers and getting emotional, take no where. there is no perfect person in this world, and when people vacation, especially normal young, people tend to become less rational and make mistakes, who has never made a stupid mistake in his/her life, please throw the first stone. don’t waste your energy creating more separation, think and focus on the positive. finding the truth.

A girl is missing, big mystery. thousands of girls go missing, yes, that this one is blonde or american is less important, then finding them and knowing what happened to “all of them” finding just one, especially in a case so bizzare like this one, might bring facts and responsibles to light, that might uncover the fate of hundreds of other females dissapeared under similar conditions. touristic islands like aruba are very zealous about their reputation, because their life-sustainance depends on it. if this girl has not been found until now, with all the much publicized (ongoing) search, this is surely indicative something is really wrong, and more then one person is not telling the truth, to protect themselves, and possible their families. when things are this wrong, and more then one person is hiding truth, that is an indication that there is power behind which could threaten other people’s positions, and ultimately lives. if this is related to corruption, we all know what happens to people who talk and to their families.

please let people do everything they can to find her. we need to bring our attention and solidarity with anybody who disappears accidentally , it is not about one gitl,
it is about waking up to this terrible crime to humanity: raping, kidnapping, killing of innocent women.

for those who are still alive, and in memory of those who are not, I plead you to remain positive, and involved.

I don’t understand how you can hold someone in order to make his son tell the truth. It makes no sense to me to deprive someone of his freedom for no other reason than to make his son tell the truth.

Paulus is a criminal. Telephone communication between Paulus and his son in the middle of the night of May 30th indicates he was aware of what happened, and rushed to the site of the crime to help his son. Conflicting statements he gave to investigators are reasonable suspicions to hold him and get him to tell the truth.

The Aruban officials should do every thing to show they have corrected all the mistakes they made early in the investigation, and no one his above the law.

Tourists need to feel the system works, and powerful corrupt government officials acting like mafia are removed from the system, prosecuted, and sent to jail.

I can’t believe NATALEE is no where to be found. it’s like here in the USA where the DAD in ILLINOIS was arrested they said he was a suspect of killing his 5 year old daughter. months later they let him out saying he is no longer suspect. in the mean time no other suspects are detained no body charged with killing 5 year old. still unsolved. murderer still running streets. do you think this is what ARUBA wants. false arrest false sense of security for there ISLAND. Or will they wait and see if it happens again. At this point we don’t know what happened to NATALLE it’s all speculation. Don’t you think the 17 year old who doesn’t want to ruin his daddys reputation would have thought about that before he got involved. I am sure his daddy told him this about behaving on the island. we can only pray that these judges of the 5 are honest smart sensitive to this case and can see thru any lie’s like a judge is for.

question I ask on a different thread this morning…..
wher in aruba is the final resting place for local and business trash? wonder if that area has been searched in detail for forensic clues…in the event of a body or disguarded evidence…..
heres a good question…was nats room key ever returned to the hotel holiday in…..>>>if they use room keys…
heres another nat had long blonde hair…. long hair has a tendancy to leave itself….
wonder if they checked detainees for body marks that happen with a struggle insues….if someone was fighting you…sometimes they leave marks….if nat had to fight I hope she would have left real good ones….

and I still think still other parties were involved…that joran was just a woose who only was part of what happened to natalee….and ran scared to daddy….JUST MY OPINION…..
I am gonna go watch more news now…..

BTW the prosector wanted to keep Croes for another 8 days, but it sounds like becuz he had already been held so long (the first round of 8 days), his attorney was able to argue there was not enough evidence to hold him for another 8 days and the judge agreed. Senior, on the other hand, was still on his first 8 days, so they can keep him longer.

The story of NH is captivating for both human interest and fate. It is still the No.1 news item because nothing has come along to displace it as happened to the Chandra Levy case. We all know that a single misjudgement whether in a car, boat, or even walking can have devastating consequences. Here is NH on a seemingly happy and safe vacation and one single episode changes all that. It is very possible that if NH returned from Aruba normaly she may have spent the rest of her life without even a parking ticket.

    95. Jerry on June 26th, 2005 2:21 pm

Makes no sense to me as to use PaulVDS to convince the younger JoranVDS to tell the truth . The only thing he will do is tell him to keep his mouth shut. I see no logic in this unless they have microphones in the cells to hear conversation. I think a better solution would be to let them know what people are saying what will happen when he gets out especially if he is a big enough dumn ass to go to school in the USA.

Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, have credited Equusearch with having perhaps the highest ‘find rate’ (about 70% – with nearly 85% of these found alive) of any search and rescue organization in our nation. ”

85% is something to remain hopeful for.

They report that they are using the dogs, the divers and sonar to rule out any possibility of her being deceased. It is all in the wording and the way they are wording it, they still have hope. I am still subscribing to the possibility that she was “exchanged” for drugs or debts.

Why are they delaying til tomorrow at 1:00 if he is found not to be culpable then should be released immediately . Wow ! Have they already evaluated the others and decided to hold them or are they still in progress?

      Just a thought –
If anyone from Aruban LE is listening, you may be missing a great PR opportunity for the island.
If the Aruban investigators are indeed doing a great job they need to get that message out.
Obviously Aruban/Dutch law is inhibitng their interaction with the media; but, just as obvious is the fact that Aruba does not possess the kind of sophisticated PR machine that American politicians ansd diplomats have so finely honed over the last 200 years.
Leaks, back channels and trickle down information is still the most effective means of manipulating public opinion; and, the internet, through blogs like these, discussion groups etc is a perfect vessel.
By selective posting and confidence building such as shocked, simian and others have used here, Aruban LE can bnuild empathy for the methodology used in the investigation and cast the whole process in a much moire favorable light.
It’s win-win, we get our appettite for info more acutely sated and the island gets some allies against the Aruba bashing.

To agree to remain silent is to agree not to hum any tune

The Arawaks are desperate, they fear for the tribe, they do not want war with the cowboys

      But the loot remains hidden

And the Arawaks keep their singing card hidden as well

The fallen judge and the singing card are of the same hand, but it is dangerous for the Arawaks to play it, because everyone would hear, including the cowboys

He is playing them probably by doing that. He may indeed be lacking any knoledge. Or . He also may be confident enough in his own knoledge of the law, this may make it so the next time a judge reviews whether or not he should remain in jail, they will have no reason to keep him. I for one dont believe he will ever give anything against his son. But they have to present evidence why he should remain in custody. If I understand the system so far.

I think the bird has been shaken from the wire in order to make the little dutch boy and the dutch father sing, along with the two brothers. Natalie is there. They have to keep looking for her. Tattered and threadly blue jean skirt, broken spaghetti straps, tears, pain, blood, vomit, tape. Many hermit crabs. A tree of unique shape or location. She is there. The evidence is all there. The story has not yet begun to unfold. There is evidence that they missed when destroying other.
I think Anita might be lying as well. But there are friends of these boys that may have some answers. The answers are in the rocky shadows. Please let equusearch find those answers. The intent was sinister and cruel. There are answers. One might be at the casino. Two might be at Carlo’s and Charlies. They have been missed. Something is missing that is crucial. Important matters such as treaty agreements were likely to be marked by an exchange of Wampum belts, with designs in two colors, which thereafter served as visual reminders of the event itself, and to call to memory the arrangements agreed on” (Russel 1980: 185).

Amerindians of the “Saladoid” culture, originally came from the Venezuelan mainland. They were referred to as “Arawaks”, because of the language they spoke. Using Trinidad as a stepping stone they spread up the Caribbean and beyond. Ethnologist have noted common characteristics with the cultures of south eastern USA. For many years this led some to believe that they originated there, archaeological finds have confirmed that their origin is most certainly Amazonic.

There is telling evidence hidden in plain sight. I think they also plan to watch Croes and see whom he talks with and what he does. She is waiting there to be found. Still.

Babylon was the ancient headquarters for the soothsayers, astrologers, and prognosticators who took sacrificial animals and examined their organs in order to find omens of the future. Frequently, in ancient Babylon, a rock was thrown into a pool of water and the rings produced in the water examined to tell the future. Internal organs of dead animals were also examined. The liver was especially prized to determine the future, to tell fortunes, or to give omens. Gazing at the stars, the practice of astrology, has been common since the beginning of man as a means of telling the future.

From the Babylonians, the practice fell into the hands of the ancient Etruscans. They were the seafaring precursors to the Romans, who became the heart of the Roman Empire. Eventually, all Rome gave itself to seeking in the organs of dead animals what the future intended for them and their armies. In Greece, there was no statesman, leader, or businessman who did not seek from the Pythian prophetess at Delphi an answer for what tomorrow might bring.

No, it is something I feel for some reason. I felt things when Susan Smith killed her children. The second day they were missing, as soon as I saw her, I told my husband she was lying. He asked what I meant and I told him that she was lying and that she did something to those boys. I told him I felt they were in the lake, probably with the car. He told me never to say those awful things. I just feel these things and there are no specific times or reasons. I knew when the phone rang once that it was my sister in law calling to tell us his mother was dead. I knew at one time that one of the sisters were very, very ill before they knew it, but not which one. Within two years, one was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. I knew when Mark Hacking appeared on tv during the initial hunt for his wife that he was lying and that he had killed her. I dreamed she was in a dumpster with threads or strands of threads around her, probably from the mattress or clothing. My husband does not like for me to say those things because they are creepy to some. But sometimes, I just feel these things. I can read people very well. Always have. There is so much under the skin of Joran Van Der Sloot that we have not seen yet. His father has skeletons and there are other things about this that are arye. I would not call me psychic. I don’t know why I feel these things or if they are correct, but I believe she is there in a rocky place or shadowed by rocks. For some reason there is still time to find her, but something changes in this area, not on a regular basis but an irregular basis. Maybe the residing of hermit crabs or other form of decomposer, but I feel she is there waiting for someone to find her.

How can The Sacrifice be prevented, Shango?

    262. Anne on June 26th, 2005 5:28 pm

Okay what I’m hearing is that either young VdS or Sr. will be sacrificed by the singing trio (Kalpoes and perhaps Croes or another) but the Babylonian will not sing (which is the person who really knows the truth). He is being kept silent by the native members of the group that don’t want to bring see everything come tumbling down. Not sure what “everything” is — either the Natalee scheme or something much larger — but instead since a mutually beneficial agreement cannot be found, Joran or his dad will be wrongly tossed to the wolves and a false crime pinned on them in order to satisfy the cowboys and those whose livelihoods ride on tourism and good relations with the US. Because the authorities are not being “fed” the answers they want.

    267. Anne on June 26th, 2005 5:33 pm

The Arubans and Americans demand closure to this issue. The polis do not want to do it, but they are going to pin the crime on Joran because they’re afraid of what America will do without closure, monetarily or worse. Does this mean the hand of guilt is not attached to the lamb, but another?

    268. edie on June 26th, 2005 5:34 pm

Elaine, ever since I saw your post yesterday about a rocky place and hermit crabs I’ve been thinking about the Casibari rock formations on Aruba. I think they’re inland somewhat, I’m not sure how far from anywhere else on the island, but I can’t get the image out of my head. Granted it is a tourist spot, but not easy to get to.

I’m not psychic, so maybe you or someone else more intuitive than I can get something from this (or not?).

    272. Shango on June 26th, 2005 5:39 pm

      Every tribe has bad Indians

      Every fort has bad cowboys

If sirens sing a poison song, all will get sick

      Arawaks and cowboys working well

Arawaks fear wrath of cowboys for DirtyHand

But babylonians live in teepees too

If the house of babylon is to remain erect, it must protect the babylonians who have lived in teepees, among the arawaks, for a long time.

babylon will agree to a sacrifice of newer teepee dwellers to prevent the story of dirtyhand being made public

      Dirtyhand scares arawaks too

the sacrifice will be the correct sacrifice to appease the gods and cowboys

      cowboys will leave without loot

    273. Dman on June 26th, 2005 5:40 pm

It may be that NHs disappearnce has something to do with crime bosses trying to extort Arubian officials into allowing them greater freedom to operate on the Island or sell the Island some type of protection. If people start turning up missing or dead and the public officials cannot handle it then everybodies’ rice bowl gets smaller.

Whatever the outcome, we need to be less naive about the subculture that feeds our economies, yet corrupts our souls and the innocence of our descendents.

Kristin: I don’t know anymore who the singing Babylonian would be, really. And edie, I don’t really know about Joran, either. Instinctually I believe he is guilty (Occam’s Razor) but since the politician in US said this case is different than any other missing/kidnapping case, I suspect perhaps he might have been a convenient scapegoat. He and Dad might be involved in some bad business, but what our Aruban friends here intimate is that it’s nowhere near as pervasive or insidious as that of “DirtyHand” – or whomever is truly responsible for Natalee’ s ultimate fate. Not even sure if I’m in the right church, let alone pew. :)

    283. Elaine on June 26th, 2005 5:48 pm

Sandy, if you live on Aruba maybe you could direct someone’s attention there. Maybe one person will listen. I do not think that Beth Tweety will accept a sacrificial lamb answer. Yound VDS is involved up to his evil eyes. Could the arawak dirty hand be T?
Is T the dirtyhand. Or someone bigger? Is Lorenzo also locoman? For Kristen, I think, I wish for her to be alive, but I have this feeling she is not. Unfortunately, I believe she was alive through all the ugliness and pain. Through more than she should have been.
I think if Aruba wants to restore itself and its honor, they will go deeper into this and very soon. Hopefully, Beth Holloway will not give up. Nor the cowboys. There are answers and there are bigger questions out there. But for now, I believe it is of the utmost importance that they find her and find therein the evidence to put away the hearts of stone.

    284. Shango on June 26th, 2005 5:50 pm

The pain the sacrificial beast will feel depends on how quickly the cowboys return to the fort.

    285. blackspeare on June 26th, 2005 5:50 pm

With the release of Croes, maybe its simpler than what I have been posting. It just might be Joran and his father. The brothers may have some information, but may not be involved in either the alleged death or disposal of the body.

Maybe the DEA needs to keep their ears on the tracks leading down the carribbean. Or maybe they are wanting to watch for his next moves.
They cannot get hung up on this one thing. The central focus must be finding Natalee. She must be found. Finding her will unravel the whole ball of yarn. She is there. I remember “Shocks” comments. I also remember questioning him on what would happen today if his comments were not proven to be true. He stated “it wont happen”. Now I guess we all can see that his comments are not to be taken so seriously. There are lots of very smart people on her talking about what they know and what will happen. I believe wholey that these smart people are just talking a bunch of riddles that have no proof behind them. They want to make us all think they are close to this investigation and that they know more than everyone else. The problem is they have given us no more proof than the Aruban police or the reporters have. Unfortunately I don’t think they will in the future either.

    322. T K on June 26th, 2005 6:24 pm

Something tells me that they are holding them all with no evidence to keep them. I think it is all because of the pressure being placed on them to solve this mystery. It is all very sad for all of the people involved. It is sad that Natalee is missing, and her family is going through hell. It is also sad that the famalies of the people in jail right now are having to go through this. Especially if there is no proof as to what really happened and who did it.

No-one in admittance knows whether the riddlers are charlatans. They may be, they may not. I myself am open-minded. Predictions based on ‘insider’ knowledge can be made in good-faith based on a real-time understanding, but things can change suddenly and influence outcomes, so this has to be considered possible here. Time may, or may not, tell.

Leaving all that aside, my gut feeling is that there is corruption within the Aruban heirarchy that would shock the world if it became public – someone knows the answers to all the questions; whether they will raise their hand and come clean is another matter.

If you are such a person, then I would advise you to contact the FBI or to send a private message the founder of this forum. As a participant on this forum, I can attest that the founders of this forum is a person of integrity and is a person whom you can trust. You may wish to work out an agreement with him as to how you want that information to be handled, but I would urge anyone who has been victimized by this man, or who feels that she may have been given a date-rape drug by him, to have their voice heard.

Concerned UK said it in the best terms. I’m not meaning to imply I have knowledge — I don’t. Just enjoyed trying to decode and ask questions that might get answered. As with all of you, my spirits have dropped with the release of the father. I suspect the rest will eventually be let go and we will never know the facts of this case and Beth will never get her daughter back. This is heartbreaking. I also believe that Joran will not be anyone’s sacrifice. He will go free and Aruban LE think that this will all go away eventually. For the first time since she went missing, I hope we never forget or let go of trying to bring the guilty to justice — no matter who they are or what it means to expose them.

    342. T K on June 26th, 2005 6:41 pm

I would hope that after a month of seeing Joran on tv and everywhere else, that any other possible victims would have come forward by now. I don’t think they would be able to sit around and watch all of this without coming forward.

It may just be that there are none.

      Elaine,

What good will it do for anyone to stop traveling to Aruba? Do you think that will make this whole thing go away, or make Natalee’s family feel better? I just don’t understand why so many people keep making statements like that. It does not help anyone or anything. I for one am an American who would love to one day visit Aruba, no matter what the outcome of this ends up being.

    349. Concerned on June 26th, 2005 6:55 pm

We need to stay focused on truth and justice. it can only help us in so many ways in the future. I teach my kids that they can make a difference. I do not want to have mislead so many of my students for so many years!!!

      Lucy:

If he is let go because he is not responsible, then of course that’s fair. But if he’s let go because there’s not *enough* evidence, but still suspicion, then that’s bad. Nobody wants the wrong people tried and convicted. I don’t. That’s for certain. However, it seems terribly wrong to bring him in and create false hope for the family only to shatter that hope within a few days.

    352. Ragalee on June 26th, 2005 7:04 pm

From Fox, (sounds like an “excuse” to cover a bad decision to me….

“Croes said Joran and two other suspects, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, were surveilled electronically after being released following an initial round of questioning. He implied that information picked up by such surveillance led to their second detention.”

      Thoughts?????

    353. Dman on June 26th, 2005 7:06 pm

Anytime there is gambling…there is organized crime skimming some how some way…Aruba although a Dutch Protectorate does not perhaps have the internal resources to threaten or control organized crime….NHs disappearnce may have a lot more to do with the Aruban government losing its grip on the local law and order than anything else….meaning the elements of organized crime can do or take what ever they want on Aruba including a NH.

If VDSjr is the type of sexual preditor he has been made out to be…then one would expect that there would be other victims…as of yet none has come forward…may be there are not any.

    354. Lucy on June 26th, 2005 7:11 pm

      Anne
If they don’t have enough evidence, they have to let him go. Plus, there was a lot of pressure put on by the family to check him up. You could see this in Mr. Holloway’s interview, of four days ago, where he metioned him by name, and also in Mr. Twitty’s interview, when he was discussing what he had done to coordinate the Texan Search Party

      Regalee
This has been commented since their detention. That they did not have enough information to warrant a judge ordering their detention and they had to gather information, such as ellectronic survaillance, checking of phone records, sending for forensic analysis of materials found in Deepak’s car, etc.

    355. Anne on June 26th, 2005 7:12 pm

      Lucy, continued:

Oh, and if they did take him in with a dearth of evidence for the purposes of “making Joran talk” then it is equally unfair to Mr VdS and the rest of his family.

    356. Openminded on June 26th, 2005 7:13 pm

My supposition is that Pop knows a lot about all this; did junior not call him in the early hours of the fateful night? Surely he would have been concerned that his 17 yr old son was out either (apparently) alone or with a foreign dame?

It bothers me that the Aruban officials are so quiet about ‘developments’ in the face of such pressure yet can arrest and release people seemingly at will without qualifying their actions. I’m feeling they may be having difficulty in manipulating the situation so they can make worthwhile announcements without jeapordising whatever it is the country is hiding, beit corruption, value of tourism or anything else.

He has almost certianly coached his son, and as has been mentioned here, the longer the mouths stay silent the more their chances of walking, so unless any major finds are made in terms of evidence they have no reason to confess what they know if it’s likely to implicate them further as probability suggests nothing will be found – they have nothing to lose by staying silent and probably their freedom to reclaim.

    357. T K on June 26th, 2005 7:15 pm

      Anne,

Oh, and if they did take him in with a dearth of evidence for the purposes of “making Joran talk” then it is equally unfair to Mr VdS and the rest of his family.

I totally second the above statement. If they did this to him for no reason other than to make the other family feel better, then they definitely owe him and his family a public apology and much more!

it isnt fair to ruin a mans life for no reason at all, no matter what the circumstances!

    358. Lucy on June 26th, 2005 7:23 pm

      Anne
Yes, but perhaps they took him in to eliminate or dissipate doubts. The fact that he ran away from cameras (embarrased, confounded?), held back, hid behind the bush, kept quiet and didn’t say much in the interviews, told his son, as an expert of the law to keep quiet (or as any lawyer would have told him), and always seem distraught, may have contributed to people concluding that he was a co-participant. Maybe he is not that strong or the events of this case and his son being implicated, have crushed him and thus, the image he projects.

    359. new girl on June 26th, 2005 7:25 pm

      Hello all,

I too wonder about the gambling / casino angle. Early on, the VDSs seemed so wealthy, and the younger one had seemingly endless $$ for drinks, gambling, etc. Poppa liked the casinos too. Wwizard (or something like that) kept repeating “follow the money.” Where was Poppa VDS getting HIS $$?

    360. Anne on June 26th, 2005 7:27 pm

How can we have faith in Aruban LE if they would arrest on “image projection” Lucy? Is it a cultural conflict or breakdown — does LE see massive interest in the US and parents who are angry and distraught and mistake the desire for justice to be a desire for quick action, even if it’s unethical? If they did it to dissipate doubts, it seems to be having the opposite effect, because now it looks like they blundered or are toying with the family’s emotions. Hope this does not sound hostile or upset, it isn’t meant to be. I really need help understanding both the arrest and release from the perspective of Aruba, not America.

    362. Elaine on June 26th, 2005 7:36 pm

What if Americans feel threatened by this incident. In the blink of an eye, anyone’s young daughter can be taken anywhere. But in Aruba, we have just seen it happen and it is about not allowing the perps to slip away. If someone can look at you and lie several times, he is lying about being innocent. Joran does not look like a kid that is very easily intimidated. I doubt that they have intimidated him at all.
I do think that in Alabama, they should talk to her friends again to see if anything might click. They might remember something about that night that seems insignificant or unimportant that can help. Even if it is something that Joran might have said.

    363. Lily on June 26th, 2005 7:39 pm

UGHH…. All this is making me nuts……. I do not ever see it ending , these freaks will walk and nothing will ever be solved. I guess I am going to have to go back to hanging around eBay now I just can not stand to think that there seemed to be a close end to this madness for this story and this family but sadly it seems the crooked will be free.

I read somewhere that the prim minster’s daughter was tought buy one the VDS if that is the case funny how he said the reason PVDS was being held only to make son talk, when just Friday they had him on suspsion of murder or involvment…….. seems the buddy system has worked for the failure judge. Guess since the 30 he has brushed up on his legal studies and praticed the wronge side of the law, be the dork can pass that test with flying colors now…. exspearence is everything he surey had himself a crash course.

Lord I hope this does not end with NO ENDING meaning the guilty walk and play and Natalee and her family never have the peace they are so entitled to.

What I meant was that if your behavior does not conform with one of “innocence”, or no fear, total control, then sometimes that is misinterpreted. It happens everyday, everywhere.

      Lily
Anita van der Sloot is a teacher at the International School of Aruba, where Joran went and maybe, where the PM’s daughter goes/went.

    366. Lily on June 26th, 2005 7:54 pm

Lucy it seems so crazy the whole mess, to many people “know” one another and will protect each other.

    368. Elaine on June 26th, 2005 8:08 pm

Who is Nemesis Trapenberg. Is she related to Rueben Trapenberg, the gov’t spokesperson? I am feeling that could be a yes. She is with the group that hangs together. Joran, the Kalpoes, Jaime, Locoman, Mark, Brenton, and that gang. Some of which do not seem so alltogether. Is it possible they are all sticking together for fear the bigger things are going to come out as well?
They must find Natalee. She is there and is waiting to be found. Her soul will not be at peace without being found.

    369. bleachedBLACK on June 26th, 2005 8:23 pm

I would just like to chime in with a possible strategy being manuvered in to place by the Aruban authorities, and that involves the release of SC tomorrow at 1:00pm. Little has been leaked, or reported on regarding the detention of SC. Speculation of course has him as the dirty drone for the detained. The authorities used it once, why not again? Let SC out, AND WATCH HIS EVERY MOVE. If one really wanted to stack the hand in ones favor, release a second detainee–wired if necessary–and wait for SC to implicate himself and/or others…….

    370. Anne on June 26th, 2005 8:24 pm

The deal is many of these kids are on this tickle.com type of hookup thing. It is more of a friends and groups thing. Before this all happened Joran was on it, but all his stuff has been removed. He is however, on another couple of friends pictures and albums and it shows his butt all partied up and passed out. It also shows him with young females. It shows his signmaking abilities with his fingers. He just comes off as so arrogant. Deepak, Satish, Locoman,Jaime and if you look at Nemesis site you see Joran and Jaime arm in arm. Valentjin’s VDS site is still there. I am also wondering if Croes has brothers or relatives in the teenage years. Go there and start looking and reading.

(let’s just hope that your passing is soon and you suffer!!!!)
I would just like to know if you yourself have any children and if so, i certainly feel sorry for them… being raised by such an IGNORANT and WRETCHED piece of illiterate trash like you!!!!
Believe me, someone needs to be praying for you…

    377. Missy on June 26th, 2005 9:55 pm

Ok… I am now off of my soap box and need to get to what is important here…
WHERE IS NATALEE????? Someone there in Aruba knows where she is and exactly what happend to her that ill fated night. Why is it that the police and court system cannot get to the bottom of this case???? I am married to a Police Officer and believe you me… he thinks that the amount of time that has been wasted by their government officials, etc… is absolutely INSANE!!!!! They need to be confiscating computers, telephones, luggage, clothes that were worn while on vacation there! The thing that really gets me is that all of her “friends” just cannot believe that she is missing and that they all thought that they were taking care of her and that she was being watched out for when in fact, they obviously were not doing as great of a job as they claim to have been doing!!!
I can tell you this much… if that was one of my classmates/friends, I would still be on that Island searching and raising hell until I got the answeres that were needed to solve this crime!!!!
I think that Natalee’s mother is one of the strongest and bravest ladies in the entire world… she is so involved in the search and she is making her presence known and letting them know that she is ther to stay until she gets the answere’s that she needs and deserves!!!
Does anyone know if Natalee by chance had any kind of internet communication with this Joran prior to arriving on the island?
All I can say is that i hope and pray that they find her and that by some grace of God she is alive and can be reunited with her family and tell us all what happend on that last night before she was to fly back to Alabama.
I am praying for you Natalee and no matter what anyone says honey… YOU DID NOTHING WRONG… you were there to celebrate your graduation and have a little fun and whatever has happend to you… the people that have taken you away from your family and friends, need to pay the price for what they have done!!!!
I will pray for Natalee’s safe return and my thoughts and prayers are with the grief striken family!!!!
      May God be with you…

    378. san on June 26th, 2005 10:16 pm

Yes, but if you start looking more at some of the friends of friends you find the circle interesting. I do not think that the Nemesis girl is involved in the situation, I am wondering, however, if the links are there between the elders in the village. The tightness or a bond. But if you start linking some of the people together, you see there is a circle. If you read the bio of one of this circles friends you read gangster or involved in organized crime type of thing. A bad ass.
There is more to this then just a disappearance. There is more to this than just a murder. Natalee is there. The answers are in the casino, the bar and in the rocky area or shadowed by rocks. There is a tree among the other evidence items and it has information. There are other things hidden in plain sight. I hope they find them soon.

Natalee must be found. She is there and evidence is in several places. The VDS family thinks they are above the law. There is much more to this than one crime. Many crimes and many secrets. Many people have said, “What good does it do to call for a boycott of Aruba?” It does a world of good. The American money is liked well enough there. The few that are “holding all the power strings” think they can wash this away? One lady that is a travel agent has reported 500 cancellations to Aruba or surrounding islands in two days and rebooked these people to American, Mexican or European locations. This is one travel agent out of how many.
It will not be admitted until it is so painful they cannot tolerate it, but it will affect the country of Aruba. There is no excuse for not following this immediately when it happened. Why would you arrest the two security guards immediately for Natalee’s disappearance and not arrest these boys for having left with her? Because VDS Jr made the accusation.
Natalee is there. There is evidence. The rocky place or place of shadowy rocks holds some keys. The hermit crabs may have some dna evidence within their pinchers. Natalee needs to be located.

You people must lead very boring lives. You waste so much time and energy bantering about things you know nothing about, offering your horrendously stupid opinions, and act as if you’ve been personally harmed by what’s transpired on Aruba. Some stupid chick, got drunk, ran with the wrong people got raped and is dead. So what? It happens everyday in hundreds of cities throughout the world, but no one stops to take notice. Stop acting so indignant. You really don’t care….it’s all about you, right?

People like you are the ones that don’t have a life! We know things like this happen in cities everyday but this case is totally unusual.

This could happen to anyones child. You probably don’t have children because it seems it’s ALL ABOUT YOU! Get off the board if you can;’t stand it. We really don’t need people like you here anyway!

Did anyone watch Nancy Grace lasg night? I really think Joran went to the beach

      Elaine:

I’m fascinated by some of the things you said in your 6/26 (Sunday) posts:

“I think if they go in the right direction they will find her by Tuesday or evidence of her.”

“The answers are in the rocky shadows. Please let Equusearch find those answers.”

“I believe she is there in a rocky place or shadowed by rocks. For some reason there is still time to find her, but something changes in this area, not on a regular basis but an irregular basis. Maybe the residing of hermit crabs or other form of decomposer, but I feel she is there waiting for someone to find her.”

“The answers are … in the rocky area or shadowed by rocks.”

YOU SAID above, “I think … they will find her by TUESDAY or evidence of her.”
On Larry King Live, TUESDAY June 28th, Nancy Grace (filling in for Larry King) interviewed Tim Miller, the direction of Texas Equusearch. He said they have generated an “area to go to” that they are very excited about, and they are optomistic that they will have Natalie in a couple of days. He would not say where, but did say it’s in the water – NOT inland waters – and that it was going to be a very difficult and dangerous task. Natalie’s mother was also aware of this, but would not divulge any additional information.

You also mentioned “hermit crabs or other form of decomposer” residing where Natalie is. Hermit crabs of course live in the ocean and on land, and there are certainly other forms of decomposers in the ocean.

What kind of search in the ocean would constitute a difficult and dangerous task? An area with rocks, shadows of rocks or shadows of something?

Also you said, “The answers are in the rocky shadows. Please let Equusearch find those answers.” … and indeed it is Equusearch that is undertaking this task – hopefully (I guess) a successful one.

Elaine, do you have any more feelings about where Natalie is, and this “area” that Equusearch is going to?

I really wonder if Jug is willing to tell it all or if he knows about it. I know of a banker from little ol’ Blairsville Georgia who travels to Aruba a dozen times a year. His little bank’s assets and stock price has risen 3,541% since going public 4 years ago.

FIRST I THOUGHT SHE MAY BE IN THE OCEAN BUT NOT A SIGN OF ANYTHING
SHOE, CLOTHING, NOTHING. THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEGE , THEY CAN’T SEARCH THE GROUNDS OF THE SLOOTS , POSSIBILITY SHE IS THERE, OR THEY MAY HAVE CREAMATED HER BODY AND BURIED THE REMAINS.
IT’S A SURE THING THE DADDY (PAUL) DID AWAY WITH THE BODY. JORAN
I BELIEVE EITHER RAPED HER AND THEN GOT SCARED AND KILLED HER OR TRIED TO AND THEY FOUGHT BECAUSE HE WAS TRYING TO AND GOT SCARED SHE WOULD REPORT HIM AND THEN HE KILLED HER. THEN PAUL DID AWAY WITH EVERYTHING. COMMON SENSE TELLS YOU ALOT. HOPEFULLY SHE IS ALIVE BECAUSE IF SHE’S NOT SHE IS CREAMATED OR THEY SENT HER OFF ON A BOAT WAY OFF AND HAVE DUMPED HER FAR AWAY.

      Elaine,
Your post that mentioned the one who was sweaty and smelled…….just screams out Paulis VDS..remember Beth talking about his sweating…. I also think he is “Dirty Hand” and that he and his son stalk the prey until PaPa finds something “a girl” he wants and the Babalonian (JVDS) and the Shivas (the Kalpoes) snatch her and take her home to him (Beth said “Natalee was here”) at the VDS home. The last post from shango reads XTC DNA……they gave her the drug ecstasy and I hate to say this….left their DNA on her. I think Siamin and Shango are Satish and Deepak. This is just my ramblings and thoughts only, not based on knowledge or facts of any kind, just opinions. I also pray that we are all wrong and she will be found alive.
