OM Aruba rekent op snelle doorbraak; (Translated) JD Aruba counts on a break in the case soon.

The following is a translation from a Dutch publication “news article” in The Netherlands Antilles, Amigo. Special thanks to one of our Aruba commenter’s, ArubaGirl for the translation. Thank you for all of the contributions that have helped provide as much interest as possible with this event to help keep everyone as informed as possible.

media meldden.

The Justice Department (JD) on Aruba expects a break soon in the case of the disappearance of 18-year-old American girl Natalee Holloway.
This is what the JD has announced during a short pressconference Saturday monrding. The JD did not confirm or deny that one of the three young media suspects in the mean time had confessed, as was reported by several U.S. media.

CNN and CBS quoted among others deputy police commisionary Gerold [sic] Dompig. According to this source one of three boys that were arrested Thursday — Joran van der Sloot (17) and the brothers Satish (19) and Depak [sic] Kalpoe (21)- would have brought the police to the place where the student Holloway had perished. “Something bad has happened”, the suspect was quoted as saying.

CNN talked yesterday with Anita van der Sloot, the mother of Joran. She says that she is convinced that her son has told the authorities everything and that he is innocnet. “He was willing to help with everything and told me ‘Mom, don’t worry, everything will be allright. I didn’t do anything’. He was very open with us and told everything that happened.” Joran also offered to speak to the family of Natalee Holloway, according to her.

UITBREIDING

EXPANSION

The JD has expanded the leadership of the investigation team with prosector Amalin Flanegien. The investigation is getting bigger and time is getting an issue, now that there are suspects in custody.
Flanegin was sick until last Tuesday and had a criminal case on Thursay, which is why she was not available before.

Yesterday the rumours were going around that headprosecutor Karin Janssen would be replaced by Flanegin. The Dutch Lady would have been in bad graces with a part of the police investigation team. District Attorney Theresa Croes-Fernandez denies this in the strongest possible terms:” Mrs Janssen does have the lead. That people send all sorts of untrue stories into the ether, is something that the JD finds very annoying, but we can’t be held responsible for this.”

VERLENGING

EXTENTION

The judge commisioner [has been called judge of instructions by local radio station] has to bow over the question of the extention of eight days of the holding of the three young man that were arrest Thursday.

The Judge is the usually working on Curacao criminal judge Dick van den Brink. He has already arrived in Arub ain the mean time. “This is done to prevent any impression of preference treatment,” confirms President of the Common Court of Appeals of Justice of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba, Luis de Lannoy. The father of one of the boys is a substitute judge. And every impression has to be prevented that the judge that is assigned is friends with the father of the boy.

daarvan verdacht.”

The lawyers had indignant responses to the arrests of their clients. David Kock, lawer of the 19-year-old Satish Kalpoe: “According to me the JD doesn’t know it and they’ll just arrest. How can they say that they’re olding all opoinions open en suspect my client of murder at the same time?” Rudy Oom defends the 21-year-old Deepak Kalpoe: “It’s a mystery to me how you can arrest people without evidence. I have not seen anything yet that could point to a crime, but still my client is being accused thereof.”

voorgeleiding.”

The lawyer of Joran van der Sloot, Anthony Carlo, tells that the 17-year-old student of the International school looked tired Thursday evening. Carlo said Friday afternoon:”I have requested if I could be attending the interrogations, but the JD didn’t allow this. So I have only seend the boy for a short moment after he was interrogated the whole day. I have not received any documentation and so I don’t know which evidence the JD thinks that they have. Those documents we often get late, just before the appearance [before a judge].”

According to Kock the arrests are being used to get more information of the three guys. Kock: “With arrest you can use certain enforcements that you don’t have otherwise. The JD says to have arrested the three out of tactical reasons, so I think that that’s the case.”

Het is trial by media.
verschrikkelijk.”

According to Oomen, Deepak Kalpe, the eldest of the three, denies to have anything to do with the disappearance of Holloway. It seems that he cooperated with the police from the very beginning. Oomen: “And now he appears with his face and full name everywhere in the press. It is a trial by media. Of course I find it very hard for the family of the girl, but what is done to the families of these three guys, and the three guys themselves is also terrible.”.

Before the boys dropped allegedly dropped off Holloway at her hotel, they went to Arashi. At the beach Van der Sloot and Holloway were allegdly fooling* around in the backseat [*'vrijen' cover a multitude of sexual acts, from kissing to having sex.], while the brothers Kalpe were sitting in the front seat of the car. Van der Sloot already knew Natalee from the day before when they would have met in the casino of the Holiday Inn.

The two brothers declared to the police that Holloway was intoxicated and stumbled while leaving the car at the entrance of the Holiday Inn. She was caught here by a black man with a black t-shirt and a black pair of pants with a walki-talkie. This could be the reson why two guards of the empty Allegro Hotel were arrrested last Sunday.

The lawyers of these two men also deny that their clients have anything to do with the case. The judge of instructions has to decide Wednesday if there is enough reason to hold these two guards another 8 days.
HULP

HELP

Aruba can definitely get 4 days help of the 30 Dutch marines looking for Holloway. This has been confirmed by a spokeswoman of the Royal Marines in the Netherlands Antilles, residing in Willemstad, Curacao.

Prime Minister Oduber of Aruba entered a request of military assistance to the main office of the Royal Marines on the Netherlands Antilles. The militairy are available from Saturday until Tuesday, if the local authorities cannot do the searches by themselves.
This is the so-called ‘soft’ military assistance, where weapons won’t be used. Earlier seventy Dutch military personnel searched three days for Holloway. They did this without Aruba having to ask.

feiten.

In total there have been five suspects arrested since Sunday. The other two suspects are the guards Nick John (30) and Abraham Jones (28) of a hotel in the area where the student stayed. They were arrrested last Sunday. All five are accused of murder, manslaughter, or kidnapping with death as a result, or conspiracy to commit one of these acts.

There has been no trace of Holloway for two weeks. She disappeared at the end of a short trip to Aruba, together with schoolmates and chaperones. She was in the company of the three friends on Sunday May 29th, who according to their own statement dropped her off at her hotel after a night of partying. However, the next day she didn’t show up at the airport. In the meanwhile Aruba is filed with U.S. media. Tens of journalists have flown over to report on the case of the missing teenager. Authorities are afraid that the good name of their island as one of the safest in the the region is being destroyed by the disappearance.

Have to repost my last post. I feel strongly about raising a stink about what is going on in Aruba:

A lot of idiots have posted that “the girl is to blame”, “the chaperones are to blame” yada yada yada.

Others have posted because Holloway is pretty and white she is getting this attention.

The reason this is getting this attention is that this has been a major league COVER-UP to protect the son of a Dutch Judicial Minister (Judge) on the island of Aruba. This case needs the intense media pressure to continue, for without it….mark my words…the Dutch boy will be released with the statement that there is no evidence to convict.

      Think about the cover-up:
Dutch boy is last person seen with Holloway
Dutch boy claims dropped off at Holiday Inn
Dutch boy claims a black security guard walked her in to the hotel
Hotel security cameras never show Dutch boy dropping off Holloway
Security guards state she never came back during the time periods stated.
Two Security guards are taken into custody for murder
Dutch Boy is never interrogated by LE
Dutch Boy’s clothes are not confiscated
Dutch Boy’s car is not searched until 10 days after the disappearance
      Two Security guards still held
One of three sings like a canary and says “something bad happened” to Police Chief
Dutch/Aruban Officials deny “something bad happened”
Dutch Boy’s mom says the boy says he is innocent (so, I guess he must be).

WHY ARE THE ARUBAN COURTS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT NOT CHARGING DUTCH BOY WITH MINIMAL CHARGES – HOW ABOUT KIDNAPPING AND HINDERING AN INVESTIGATION?

People can be killed anywhere they travel. Its how the world works and unfortunately Natalee Holloway was a statistic. But, what would be the response of an Aruban if one of their teen girl’s was last seen with an American judge’s party animal son and the girl mysteriously disappears on US soil? Then, the stories and alibi’s don’t add up and it becomes very clear that a cover-up is taking place. My guess is that there would be protests in front of the American Embassy demanding justice…not covering up for the Judge’s kid.

BOYCOTT ARUBA!!! until the authorities there do what they need to do. Treat the Judge’s kid the same way they would treat any islander for what has taken place. md

Yes, they’ve said all this before.

As soon as something they say gets reported, they take it back and say they never said it.

      “Natalee is alive.”

      “Natalee is dead.”

“Blood was found in the trunk…um, in the car.”

“The blood has nothing to do with the investigation.”

      “Yes it does!”

      “No it doesn’t!”

      “The blood isn’t even blood.”

“Joran is a great kid! He’s very popular, and has an impeccable record!”

“We are the only sources that are reliable enough for the American media to use!”

I’m going to resist the urge, right now, to say that I doubt we’ll ever find out what happened to Natalee Holloway.

I totally agree about the cover up for this kid . I will go one step farther. Who would be better to help him cover up than dear old dad. He was given 10 days to dispose of any evidence have the car cleaned and perhaps even make sure the body would never be found. I would think dear old dad would have a pretty damn good idea just how to do it too.

The report on Fox news talks alot about his charator but nothing is documented. Why would that be a surprise to anyone? His father is obviously of great influence on the Island. Then you look at the kid’s action and it shows that he has no respect for the laws. Why? Because he knows daddy can bail his little ass out. He’s appears to be a young kid full of lot’s of attidude and little concern for anyone but himself. A Punk!

It’s interesting that nothing more has been said about who else they arrested the other morning. IS it a fall guy for the kid…..

In my book no matter how you cut it this kid is responsible. Even if he is not the one who harmed her he is the cause. She was there because of him. She left because of him. He had a responsiblity to see to it that she got back to the hotel safely.

I really believe he just didn’t like being told NO. I wouldn’t be surprised that if the truth be known he dropped something nto her drink and drugged her.

Please read the above posts by MINNESOTA DAD and JUVENAL.

Both posts are this case and intvestigation in a nutshell and they are right on.

I feel the thing that is more scary than being murdered in Aruba is how a “murder” or missing persons case is handled in Aruba.

    13. Jim on June 13th, 2005 2:33 am

One thing of note is how the Aruba people are telling the media to back off. In most cases, you want the media helping. The more the story is played, the more new leads and information comes in.

This was a cover-up from the start, and this kid looks to be getting away with murder. It is unfortunate that Aruba works this way, and I hope their tourism takes a dive.

    14. Brenda on June 13th, 2005 9:31 am

Too bad Joran isn’t a eunich – he couldn’t do this again. It is obvious by now that Joran will be getting off the hook for murdering Natalee. Too bad somebody hadn’t made him into a eunich before now – perhaps someone will be kind enough to visit the island in the future and “help” him out.

    15. Brenda on June 13th, 2005 10:06 am

If this cover-up succeeds; Joran and friends are released – perhaps it is time to raise money to see that they receive the justice they truly deserve. Then we as an American public can simply give Aruba the same treatment they are giving Natalee’s family –

      1. Breaking news and then backtracking on it
      2. Hide the evidence of the murder with the assistance of the police and judges
      3. Announce forever after that “we are doing the best we can”

While I have ALWAYS been against vigilante justice, I am now becoming understanding of why this type of justice has been employed in the past.

TOP95 FM (Aruban radio station) reported on Monday that they have received information about the story that the suspect Joran van der Sloot gave to the police. The radio station got this information from the attorney that is representing the suspect Abraham Jones. Jones is being held at the same location as Joran and he has been hearing/getting information from within the institute. According to the attorney ,Jones declared that Joran is convinced that he is being framed. Joran is saying that he did not go to the lighthouse with the group at all. He testified that after he left the club, he caught a ride home with his Surinamese friends, the brothers Kalpoe. At that time Natalee Holloway was in the car. Joran allegedly testified that the Kalpoes dropped him off at his home and drove off with Natalee in car. It was only afterwards (a few days later), around the swimming pool at his house, that the Kalpoes made plans to come out with one version of the events. But now it seems that they are trying to frame Joran. The attorney also told the radio station that his client has been hearing Joran van der Sloot sobbing a lot lately.

I read that A woman named Amy Bradley was abducted from a cruise ship near Aruba in 1998, and has been seen in a bordello on Curacas, where she was begging for help, I read that kidnapping for slavery is very rampant in that area. I think that Natalie Holloway was abducted also, and is now being held against her will. I am told that white slavery is very profitable, and a girl like Natalie would bring a very large price.
Too bad the Holloway family does not use the reward money for hiring mercenaries to go get her. The question is not where Natalie is, the question is Where do the slavers take their victims, and who tipped them off to the fact that she was available?

    19. Sarah on June 13th, 2005 10:33 pm

Where do these boys get all their money for gambling and drinking?? I don’t know about the brothers but obviously Joran doesn’t work. Unless his father finances his vices he has to get money from somewhere. Kidnapping a blonde white girl, an intelligent one at that, would defintely solve his money needs. Aruba natives are so quick to judge the USA for our feelings about all this, but at least our law enforcement does keep the family informed. This family knows NOTHING of the investigation, and I don’t care what their Dutch law says, this family has a right to know whats going on. I do not know Natalee personally but I have friends that know her Dad and I pray for this family daily that the Aruban government will cease their coverup and let the family know the truth.

Private investigator, Mercenaries — yes there really are REAL investigators in the private sector — ex FBI, ex CIA, ex Military, etc.

Too much time has elapsed for the ‘local boys’ to take care of their
own local politicians and their spoiled brat kids — Joran seems to have
free run (UNDERAGE AND ILLEGALLY) drinking, driving and gambling
at will; lives NEXT door to parents (private apt. for a high school kid?),
apparently NOT employed — doing whatever at will and supporting
low-life activities via his own website preferences — OF COURSE, Dad
supposedly ‘pulled the plug’ on the internet trash related to sonny boy !
Maybe Dad is using the kid for enhancing his own social life ! Maybe the
kid couldn’t pay his gambling debts with his allowance and had to
“bargain” his way out of debt ! And, again, maybe he just either has
no respect for women (again pretty obvious from website) or couldn’t
“whimper” loud enough, when told , “No” —- so took it a step further !
Judging from what little he has been held responsible for (in public
records) previously, why would anything he did to Natalie surprise
anyone ? Time for him to suck it up, grow up and own up — if not
immediately, maybe the family should pursue other methods of
determining just how much can be UNCOVERED !

I think they should send Joran to Alabama for questioning! I would love to see how long it takes for him to come forth with the truth with American police who actually care about Natalie. I agree to boycott aruba after suchmishandling of this case. For God sakes the island is a small island and at this point should have had every singe square inch searched…. but it hasn’t WHY???

Please bring the four young men to the U S of America, so we can talk with them correctly! If that can not be done, Americans should not step foot on that Island again, cut the Income completely.

There has been no mention of a lie detector test..Is there a reason why this has not been done? I am sure it would either covict or say that these young men would be innocent. I am so surprised that they are being held on no evidence.

I’m tired of this bulshit. If natalee wasn’t a junky nothing will happened to her

aruba..Shame on you. You should not be throwing mud at this poor girls (Natalie) name. I would think that you would have a little compassion for this missing girl. Bless Natalie and her family.

      ” DaveN Says: (June 13th, 2005 at 1:16 pm )
Brenda, it is sad that this didn’t take place in a real country. We would have answers, and the criminals would be prosecuted…… ”

      Agree completely with you Dave!

But sure you’re NOT talking about the US of A, (as this real country) known for it’s media-hyped-trials, biased opinions, (against homosexuals, coloured people) convictions based on fabricated evidence (or no evidence at all: just public opinion), innocent people spending years in jail (or even on death-row!), high statistics of unsold crime and a huge rate of unsolved missing persons cases!
(How many in the last month only?)

Without any hard evidence (“proof beyond reasonable doubt”), Aruba, with it’s Dutch law-system, can or will not convict any individual, highly suspected or not.

Lynching days are long gone. (at least; outside of the US of A.)

why havent they mentions how the gardner disapered right way when this happened and othing said about it or checked it out he proble disposed of the body for the boy so he would not have a body to accuse him .
the aruba goverment is covering it up for his father to protect the boy . when one of the boys said something bad happened and then the police denigh it . what a cover up
