Natalee Holloway: Teen Still Missing in Aruba, Part II

There still has been no word on the missing teen, Natalee Holloway, who disappeared the last night of a trip to Aruba celebrating her graduation from high school.

Video via NBC13 Miami

Description of Natalee Ann Holloway

Holloway came to Aruba for a five-day excursion with 124 seniors and 40 chaperons from Mountain Brook High School, near Birmingham, Ala. She was last seen around 2 a.m. Monday, Attorney General Caren Janssen said Thursday.

Four days later, the Alabama teenager is still missing, despite an extensive search of the Dutch Caribbean island.

“Honestly, at the beginning, we were hopeful the girl would come back,” said police Superintendent Jan van der Straaten. “Today, we are more and more thinking about the possibility of a crime.”

On the island remarkable for its absence of violent crime, hundreds of residents and tourists posted fliers to help the hunt. FBI agents helped the Dutch military and Aruba police scour outlying scrubland with helicopters and all-terrain vehicles but found no trace of the 18-year-old.

Aruba radio and television stations broadcast a reward offer from Holloway’s family, though they did not specify an amount. The family promised to reward anyone who brings her safely to a police station or hospital.

As posted yesterday crime does occur on these islands and in many cases they go unreported. The last thing the Island Tourism Bureau wants is a blemish like this. One can see through out the reporting of the story and comments from Aruban officials the want and need to stress its a safe island. The story should be about Natalee Holloway and how to find Natalee Holloway. Not about how safe Aruba is or that there is little to know crime. ARUBA, this is not about you. Its about finding Natalee Holloway.

The island of 72,000 off the coast of Venezuela has a reputation of being all but free of crime for tourists.

There was one murder and six rapes last year and two murders and three rapes this year. But all the rapes were committed by local men against local women. The two murders involved drug addicts who died in knife fights.

“Aruba is a happy island and a safe island,” said Janssen, the attorney general. “We’re looking everywhere.”

The Aruban police, tourists and several family members that traveled to Aruba are searching the Arashi area in the northwestern tip of Aruba.

“We don’t have any indication as to if she is alive,” Sambo said. “The whole population is aware that she is missing. The police are doing everything to find her.”

Police, using helicopters and all-terrain vehicles and patrol cars, were combing the Arashi area in the northwestern tip of Aruba, a rugged terrain of sand dunes, craters and beaches. The area is near the Holiday Inn.

More than 100 people, mostly American tourists, offered to help during a gathering Thursday morning at the Holiday Inn, organized by International Friends of Aruba, a group of wives of Americans working on the island. The volunteers were distributing fliers with the teenager’s photo in various parts of the island.

Police questioned and released three Aruban men who said they dropped Holloway off early Monday at the Holliday Inn, where she had been staying about 3 miles from the capital of Oranjestad, said police assistant inspector Jules Sambo. The three were not suspects, he said.

Not suspects, huh? Let’s just hope this has a happy ending and they find Natalee Holloway safe.

More from:

The Birmigham News

Police scoured the Aruban sdhoreline by boat and helicopter Thursday for any sign of a missing Mountain Brook woman, but to no avail.

The family of Natalee Ann Holloway, 18, offered a $10,000 reward for her return.

Holloway disappeared on a trip to the Caribbean island with about 140 other recent graduates of Mountain Brook High School and seven adult chaperones. Family and friends say she left her passport, cell phone and luggage at the hotel where the group was staying.

About 100 of Holloway’s family, friends, Aruba residents and other tourists formed a search party. Shop windows were lined with fliers bearing Holloway’s picture, and a group of expatriate women, the International Friends of Aruba, staked out the roughest neighborhood in Oranjestad, the capital, in the hope of spotting her.

“Everybody’s just stopped what they are doing and helping out,” said Julia Renfro, a member of the group and editor of the local English-language newspaper, Aruba Today. “There are all kinds of people on the streets, on the corners, looking in windows. Everyone’s here, we’re knocking on doors.”

Boston Globe:

Dutch marines stationed in the Caribbean island of Aruba begin a search for Natalee Holloway, 18, an Alabama high school graduate who disappeared while on a five-day graduation trip in Oranjestad, Aruba, Thursday, June 2, 2005. The Holloway family offered a reward for her safe return as more than a hundred tourists and locals volunteered to post fliers and help in the search.

CNN:

“We can’t just sit here and do nothing,” said Robin Holloway, the girl’s stepmother. “We don’t know if she is still in Aruba … or she’s been kidnapped. We just don’t know anything.”

In Alabama, more than 150 people participated Tuesday in a prayer service for Holloway at Mountain Brook Community Church.

Reaction on some of the comments that were incorporated in this article.
Have you ever been to Aruba? Do you know Arubians?
Note that the newspapers and local tv-stations have ALL been about Natalee Holloway since she disappeared. The Arubians want to find her as much as you do, they wouldn’t put as much effort or emphasis if they didn’t. This is also the first time that an American tourist has even disappeared from the island, especialy of this nature. And yes they are all worried and horrified by the last weeks events.

That the Arubian economy relies on tourism? Yes. The majority of it does.
That Aruba is crime free? For sure not but which country is? But they do have a reputation of having little or no crime and they’ll like to keep it, since it’s the prime reason tourist visit the island.
Although all this, they are still keeping the search of Natalee Holloway in the first place because of one mother agonizing thought of her eighteen-year-old missing daughter. And I believe that the local police with the assistance of the FBI are doing their outmost on finding her.

ps: If it was an 18-year-old Arubian who went missing in America, would your country put the same amount of efforts on finding her? Good question.

    2. Tina on June 6th, 2005 10:30 pm

This is not about placing blame on a country, This is about a mother in sheer agony and her family wanting infomation on thier family member…to hell with “is this going to affect our tourism??” No matter what country and no matter what person “THEY ARE MISSING TONIGHT” SHAME ON U! U dont need to be making any more comments because u are just hurting the loved ones, stay slient!!!

      Tina,

There is this little thing called freedom of speech which you are participating in right now. To post a comment expressing that freedom and then to tell other to remain silent is insane.

We are trying to let people know what is going on with regards to this. If that means keeping pressure on all sides to get to the bottom of this search for Natalee then that is what it we will do. Have you never heard of investigations just going away because of no attention being given.

    4. bill on June 7th, 2005 5:04 pm

You are all fucking stupid – it sucks that the girl has not turned up. That is a fact, but you assholes don’t say shit about the fucking thousands of people dying every day in your country’s fucking sick assault on other nations. Get your priorities straight. Use your free speech for something that matters – no freedom of speech or any other democratic process will bring this girl out of the woodwork. Searching does that. Concentrate on REAL issues you lazy dumb fuckers.

    5. jp on June 7th, 2005 11:30 pm

actually, read a story earlier today talking about another american girl, age 23, who disappeared from aruba several years ago. her family was visiting aruba during a cruise. the family suspects, and there was a lead, that made authorities believe the girl had been abducted and sold into the sex trade in Sth. America. I hope we find out what happened to this girl and any others, but its beginning to look slim.

    6. Nita on June 8th, 2005 7:51 am

I am deeply saddened by this whole horrid story. I am also frustrated that her friends and chaperones had no more regard for her by letting her leave with the 3 locals. What happened to the “buddy” plan? I’m a little puzzled too by the fact that she was packed and ready to go – this is so unlike a teenage girl – most of them definitely would’ve waited until the last possible minute to pack up their belongings. I pray for her family that her whereabouts is soon discovered.

    7. DUMB DUMB AND DUMMER! on June 8th, 2005 8:54 pm

      Sex trade????

yeah right they are gonna take an american girl for sextrade?
where do all these DUMB stories come from..???

Ofcoarse no sextrade TO the latin american region.. that is the DUMBEST comment on this whole internet !
Why.. the answer is simple..There is no sextrade TO the latin american region..
There is sex trade FROM the latin american region.

Cheezz kids get your act together.. i know you all like stories and everything else that sounds to become a story .. but stop.. this is already so wrong.. don’t make it worse
lets just hope we can find her… and find out what really happened..

But you will not find here in colombia or which ever country you mention.
only if she would wash up.

      Nathalee… come back home!

      second a blond gilr

    8. Not a blond girl on June 9th, 2005 3:05 pm

First of all, to “blond gilr”, you are clearly naive to think that there is not a sex trade in effect for kidnapped American girls/women. There are many very very wealthy and sick men out there who would surely pay a pretty penny for a foreign woman, for the pure fact that she was foreign.

On another note, I agree with those of you who were astounded by the fact that a trip like that wasn’t better chaperoned, but sadly when a teenager wants to make a bad choice to do something risky like go out late at night with unknown locals she’ll find a way to do that. It’s so sad, and I’m sure this will not be the last time something like this catches the attention of the world.

As for the other woman who went missing, her name is Amy Bradley. She went missing in 1998, and her family has received several concrete leads about her being forced into prostitution, but to date they still have been unable to find her. If you’re interested in reading about her story her family has a website: http://www.tggweb.com/amybradley/.

I for one will be praying for the safe return of both women, as well as for all the other terrible atrocities that take place everyday, all over the world.

    9. L on June 10th, 2005 5:06 am

      To Bill:

I am so very sick of non-Americans criticizing what they call America’s “horrific attacks” on other countries. First, this forum has nothing to do with your political views, so you need to find a more appropriate forum to express your grievances in. Also, the majority of horrific deaths in American wars are losses suffered by our side at the hands of barbaric enemies; thus, perhaps you should reexamine the anti-American ideology to which you seem to irrationally cling. Finally, you have got to be out of your mind to suggest that by focusing on a missing young woman our priorities are not “straight.” I suppose you would have us focus on one-sided, ignorant theories like your own? Do us all a favor and get a life.

      To “Dumb Dumb and Dummer”:

First, your name (complete with an incorrect spelling of dumber) pretty much sums up the remainder of your post. Like many others, the first thing that came to mind when I read the Holloway story was that the girl had been sold into a sex or slave trade of some sort (this was before reading the Bradley story). The Bradley story, in which a former naval petty officer reports having encountered the girl in a now infamous bar in which she pleaded for help before being ordered upstairs by two men. That scenario sounds an awful lot like a brothel to me (and any other logical individual). Also, given that both Latin and South America have always been notorious for torrid sex rings involving minors and the like, it’s certainly not far-fetched to suggest that the disappearances of these young women may have been related to a slave trade of some sort.

Now that the more ignorant comments have been addressed, I’d like to say that I, like the rest of America pray for the safe, speedy return of both Holloway and Bradley. An added plus to their return would be the apprehension and punishment of those responsible for their disappearance; but even without that, the knowledge that these two families would be relieved of their grief would be comforting to us all.

    10. Concerned on June 10th, 2005 7:53 am

l wonder just how many horrendous crimes happen that are never reported to us regarding Americans in foreign countries/islands. I personally know of a girl who was taken captive in India and given drugs to be sold into sex trade. She got away but they never found the captors. There is lots we don’t know about. My advice is to stay in America.

this story is not about aruba being a safe island but people are making it seem that it is very unsafe.
the main concern is of course finding the girl or finding out what happened to her.
the news and uneducated people have made it about the island itself.
againg i am a frequent visitor to aruba and it is more than a safe place.
so if the media would stop with the unsafeness then maybe people would focus only on natalee only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off stop bashing Americas. If you are un-american go elsewhere. You would be surprised to fidn out how many have disappeared while in Aruba. So although Aruba boasts of asuch low crime, how much do you think is really reported. Guys, this is not the US. This is a foreign country where they can do pretty much what they want and have no controls. Did you see the Police Commissioner. He was all freaked out that this was NATIONAL NEWS. I am sure he would much rather sweep it under the rug. The minister seems a bit more honest and he I am sure the police do not like him – if you watch them closely, you can see the tension.

So let’s boycott Aruba and not give the our US tourist dollars.

There are plenty of beautiful places in the good ole’ USA fuck Aruba!!!

    16. Lisa on June 13th, 2005 3:30 am

The Aruban Government are protecting the Van Der Sloot kid. His daddy is in a big position. They KNOW what happened to the girl. They had best do something about it sooner than later. This is ridiculous that they haven’t charged the three in connection with the disappearance. Van Der Sloot is guilty. Bastards!

    18. knowtruth on June 15th, 2005 12:26 pm

I feel that those three guys know something about Natilie, after all various news reports say that One of the three mentioned that somethiong bad did happen to Natalie that night. It’s funny how after the three boys were locked up with one of the security gaurds that they claimed they saw Natalie with after they allegedly dropped her off at her hotel, made a statement that they Never did drop Natalie off. You tell me what’s up with that.
God bless Natalie I pray that you make it home safe , my prayers are with your family and with you most of all. I know you didn’t expect some crazy shit like this. No teen , woman or family should go through this hell .Even though I don’t know you personally there are people out here all over the world anxious to see you back with your family, back to doing the things that teens do. Please comeback safe.

    19. Alex on June 17th, 2005 9:52 am

First of all I have a remark, what kind of teenager packs his or in this case her bags BEFORE leaving for a night club? I myself just graduated from what could be considered as High School here in Aruba, and I have to say, no one that I know would do such a thing. And why in the world would one leave their cel phone at the hotel when going out? I mean, I carry mine everywhere I go, it is with me almost 24/7.
These are just things about the case that don’t make any sence to me.

However I don’t know the truth about what indeed happened, so if van der Sloot could indeed be guilty. However I know that if there were drugs involved with the whole thing they could just not remember exactly what they did that night, thus changing their story.

      to Nita:
I agree with you 100% the shaperones AND her should cary some of the responsibility for her missing, AS should she herself. I mean, who would step into a car with 3 strangers in a strange country where you don’t know anyone?

      to Chellie:
I have friends at the police and at the press, thus I hear about a great deal of crimes on the island, and I have to say that compared to other islands in the caribbean, and even in the USA, our crime rate is indeed low.

      to Minuteman:
If van der Sloot is indeed being protected the Aruban Government wouldn’t be the most likely suspect because the whole family is from Dutch origin, thus they would most likely be protected by the Dutch Government.

About the investigation, Aruba is currently deploying every asset it has to the investigation into Natalie’s case. This coming form a small island with a debt of almost half a billion dollars. It is costing the Aruban Government millions! (would the US goverment spend that much money if she went missing in here home town?) We just don’t have the resources the U.S. has to investigate such a case. Some time ago a special marine helicopter was brought in from the Netherlands, all the way in europe! How’s about a little more help from the U.S. Government? I must say, they can’t come and act like they own the place, but a little help would be apresheated.

I still have hope that Nathaly is indeed alive somewhere on the island. My prayers go to the TRUTH. I indeed hope that Nathaly be found alive and well, but if and when she is found the investigation must continue to find out the truth!

This is a unfortunate and difficult international incident, but I think that we should all stop pointing blame and start working on the real problem which is finding the truth.

    20. Rochelle on June 18th, 2005 1:31 am

I don’t know if you publish or pass on tips of psychics, but I sense that Natalee has met with violence and her body has been hidden in a cold, place, someplace north of Orangestad. If you can pass this on, I would appreciate it. I think the police should be looking in places like cold storage facilities. Please pass this on.

    21. Peter on June 18th, 2005 9:31 pm

If Aruba is currently deploying every asset it has to the investigation, why has Natalee not been found??

There is a method of investigation that apparently has not been tried, and with the Dutch authorities M.O. of complete silence as to their investigative methods, no one should bat an eyelid, except the guilty.

Take a hammer and smashing one of the toes of ONE of these cowards would lead them straight to Natallee’s location VERY QUICKLY, within 30 seconds I would imagine.

DO WE WANT TO FIND NATALEE OR NOT????

I myself had a daughter to graduate this year. I think all parents should practice, I’m scared all the time rule. I hope I have instilled in my daughters to be scared of all strangers, and not to go off with them. But It happens more than we want to think it does. You set a drink down and bam you have knockout drugs in it. Inocent faces become devils. Please teach your children that everyone is a treat and alway’s stay sober unless you are with a unsober friend to look after you a drive me home safe one. So many teenagers are comming up missing everyday. We need to stop the exploative nature on childern. Why do so many people want to hurt our kids for thier sick and perverted satisfaction. We need to start a shoot to kill for any child molestors or any kind of degredation against a human. Yes death why should we let them breed more evil in this world. Yes as a child I too was molested and if I could I still to this day would kill them.

There is to many giving it away for anyone to hurt a child.
I hope they find thier loved one safe.
This is not a single Island problem this is a world problem
We all need to stop this and protect our kids everywhere.

Look people im a local.(yes aruban) and I see this every day.
Straight A students as they call them come over to our little island away from everything that they know and just have a blast. Partying, drinking, drugs and sex are a normal part of this. Its just a step out of someones reality. Now its their own responsability to make sure they dont go overboard. I feel sympathy for the family but have also seen this too many times for me to feel really sorry for that girl.
Sorry if this comes over the wrong way but I get sick of hearing how good she was and she was such a good student. What does that have to do with anything? Do people still live in some alter state of reality? Dont they see what goes on around them? Thats the worsed thing of all, she probably had to do with allot of it. This wasnt just a random act of violence.

Responding to the comment that Natalee is the first American tourist to disapear in Aruba – that is not true – she’s just received the most publicity. I don;t believe that Natalee’s story gives reason to blame Aruba or attack them with accusations… but it is a dangerous place… like many forgein toursit destinations. I’d like to share this true story: A man, let’s call him “Joe”, works as trainer in a Metro Detroit athletic club so as you can imagine that he is in very good physical condition. Better able to defend himself than someone like Natalie Holloway. Joe went to Aruba on vacation alone, and he returned with a horrifying story. I don’t know why he didn’t report it to anyone here in the states, but I think people should hear this story, maybe it will prevent something horrible happening to someone else. On Joe’s last night in Aruba he left his hotel to take one last look at the beach. As he was walking a group of local men began surrounding him. Knowing that their intentions were not kind and fearing that he would be attacked, he started moving back toward the hotel. The men, large in size and number, followed him and closed in on him in the pool area. Joe was corned with his back to the pools edge. No words were exchanged, but the men began engaging in strange behaviors around him – masturbating, as if they were putting on a show. Joe was terrified that they would rape him. For 6 hours this continued, Joe standing trapped at the edge of the pool with these men masturbating and who knows what else all around him. Why wouldn’t he yell for help? In 6 hours wouldn’t someone working there see what was happening? YES – AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING. Joe saw hotel employees watching this assault from windows and doorways, and they did nothing. When it finally became daylight Joe somehow made his way to the entrance of the hotel, but the men followed him inside. Still hotel employees did nothing. Joe’s flight was leaving and he needed to get to his room to get his belongings – but the men were still there and he knew if he went to his room they would follow. Joe called the police and an officer escorted him to the airport where he had to wait for the next flight since his had already gone. And still nothing – the men were not arrested or even questioned. Hotel employees and the authorities in Aruba allowed this assault to take place without any question or interruption, as if the local people were all sticking together. I don’t know if those men were some sort of gang, or what, but I imagine that the incident with Joe was not the first or the last. THIS IS A TRUE STORY, and I beleive there are other’s out there like it.

First of all this case is annoying me. A lot of people have been kidnapped , murdered, dissapeared you name it! And no one did such a big deal. Is it because she is rich? We all are human, we all have the same rights, many poor people have been lost, did anyone do something? Poor people dying in countries where theres is always war and poor people are murdered and forgotten. I feel it for the family and for the girl, but I also feel it for this island that is trying in so many ways to help. People saying that Aruba only think about the tourism and not the girl is not true…at the beginning we concentrated ourselves in finding this girl, but I don’t know what happened but we were shot with a lot of bad comments of this island in the American news that does not have anything to do with the case of Nathaly. Now they started it , now we have to defend ourselves. If you come to make news out of this case in Aruba, fine! that’s your job, but why do you have to start saying that Aruba is a place of drugs prostitution etc what does that have to do with anything? specially things that are not true.

All around the world there is crime , even in America! Well you know what? Let’s not go to America, We’re gonna die!!! This is what a dumb person would say, I can die right now of a heart attack sitting in front of this computer!!!

We love Americans, we don’t have anything bad to say about them. If just 1 person does something bad , that does not mean that the whole country has the same peanut head!!! And what I am going to say next is going to hurt, but it’s the only way for people in America to understand how we are feeling about people sayings things about a country, because just 1 or 2 persons went crazy….

    28. non blonde on June 21st, 2005 4:17 pm

I also find it difficult to understand why this investigation is taking so long, but my main concern is that they find Natalie soon whether she is alive or dead. I know that there are a lot of upset people from the U.S and Aruba. This conversation board is enough to say that. I personally do not blame all of Aruba for what has happened. However, under the circumstances regarding what probably happened to Natalie, and the way this investigation has carried on, I would think twice before going there.

Bad things happen in the U.S too, but at least there is more protection for citizens who need the law to help them. Any time an individual visits a forign land, he or she is at the mercy of the laws of that country. None of what I just mentioned is intended to be derogatory to other governments as this pertains to everyone.

Unless the truth is revealed about Natalie, I would not be surprised that many people not just from the U.S will be afraid to let their teenagers go to Aruba and some other countries in the future. I would’nt blame them either.

Give up on the ethnocentric crap.
When children are allowed to run amok in a foriegn nation, with their supposed friends (including her roomate) not paying attention to one another are and who they are with there is bound to be bad things happening. Everyone is to blame for this colossal screw-up, including her parents, the chaperones, her silly ass “friends”, and ultimately her own poor lack of judgement.
Thousands go missing every day so let’s face it do we really care about the fact she is missing or are we simply mired in the sheer pathos of the clusterfuck itself.

To PUCCA- how can you be annoyed by something so serious- I know it is everywhere but my God to say your annoyed- if you don’t want to hear it there is more than one channel on t.v., more than one radio station, and more than one website you can visit. I know it is getting alot of publicity but every case like this should. We can’t get mad or annoyed when they show it on t.v. we should be happy that people care enough to find this girl. I could only wish that this world would do more for more people in this situation. My heart goes out to the people looking for her and doing there part. My prayers are for they family of all the victims, the people, not only in Natalies case but all cases, going out and searching for these missing people. Most of all my prayers are for Natalie and all the people yet to be found. Annoyed? What if this happen to you- I bet the annoyance would turn into gratitude. Think about it this is life and at anytime we could be the victim!!!!!

Gosh……high school senior goes to Aruba because she can “legally” drink (ie: get drunk), have access to drugs (Aruba is a freakin Dutch colony AND the freakin’ freight forwarder for Columbian drugs..), can gamble IN the hotel lobby, and have sex with strange boys on the beach……I am SHOCKED (sad, of course, hurting for the family..), but SHOCKED something like this happened down there…..what did they expect, huh??

The investigation is ruined, nothing will ever happen. Slanderous or not, the American media is the only shining light that will keep world pressure on the authorites, God Bless America.

    37. Donna on June 27th, 2005 4:16 pm

I would hate to think that the investigation is ruined and that nothing will ever happen. Just because hope is deminishing doesn’t mean that it is lost. We may very well see a resolution to it all if we don’t loose perspective of what is going on and realize that even though we don’t feel it that these Aruban police are trying. It may not be what we are used to here in America, but Aruba is a different country- just as they would feel if something like this would happen in America. We cannot loose hope- each day that this goes on I feel sorry because we have come to know her and in a way I feel useless just hoping she is found. What good is hope? At least I do feel, right? I feel a connection to this because I have a child and no one wants to feel like this, but God I hope she comes hope- not just because I have hope but because she is a human being and that is a connection that we all share!!!!

While ours hearts go out to her mom it is a crying shame that it is everyone elses fault and the whole nation of Aruba must bear the shame of a young woman who disappeared while partying it up. Get real. People go missing every day. Stop slamming everyone else for your apparent lack of oversight in sending her there in the first place without any real supervision with a small group of chaperones whose only care seemed to be their own vacation. What kind of lack of morals, discretion, and parental controls are being shown to the world when we let our children do these things? And what incredible gall do we then have to blame everyone else?

    40. ronid23 on July 9th, 2005 1:26 am

Why are people so quick to go overboard? Just because this poor girl went missing doesn’t mean the entire world is evil. People travel all the time; they have good times and bad times – c’est la vie! Tragic things can happen on a trip to the store right here in suburbia! So, don’t discriminate. Now, in regards to this investigation taking so long…well, that happens here in America as well. Does anyone remember that 18 year old boy who disappeared from his dorm room at UCLA? I never heard anything else about him or his case. He was never found and his case never solved. Unfortunately we live in a world where heartless criminals prey on whoever they can-women, children, young men…I would like to see more strict sentencing for rapists and child molesters. I would be okay w/these inhuman creeps being put to death. Like that monster in Idaho who kidnapped two siblings after killing their mom and her boyfriend. Now, he won’t even cooperate in locating the little boy. He should definitely get the death penalty. Would that keep psychos from commiting their hideous crimes? Probably not, but at least there’d be fewer of them left on earth.

well folks i work for a major airline in the usa and we learned today all flights have been cancelec to aruba–forever –good move

    42. Kat on July 15th, 2005 3:34 pm

I’m just shocked at some of the extreme responses on this board! This incidence was an unfortunate event. It was not the family’s fault, the victims fault or Aruba’s fault. It is most likely the fault of one or a few evil people. I hate to break it to everyone but evil people live everywhere, Aruba, Europe, Canada and yes even in the good ole U.S. of A!! If we were to stop traveling to so called “dangerous” places, we’d have no where to go.

Every life is valuable and worth all the effort and attention that has been given to Natalie, unfortunately not all get it. Hopefully for the family’s sake they get some answers soon, I’m sure they’re heart broken.

As for myself, I will still travel outside the US. To suggest that the US is safer then everywhere else in the world is just ignorance. Once again the “Ugly American” rears his unknowledgeable head. One only needs to listen to the news and check out statistics to realize there are plenty other safer countries out there. I commend the people of Aruba for doing their part in the search for Natalie and for sticking up for their country and I pray Natalie is found and the person responsible is brought to justice!

    43. sua on July 16th, 2005 8:19 pm

boycott aruba no one should go there.

    44. vittorio on July 20th, 2005 4:03 am

If it was my daughter missing I would probably agree wih ronid23. It’s very very tragic and sad that we live in a world where life can be so cheap and sometimes very easy to destroy (whether this is in Iraq or Aruba or Idaho). Where this young life is right now, God only knows as well as the scum who took her – I only hope she is still alive and able to tell the sorry tale. If you’re the one or ones who took her and are reading these posts, please please – just blindfold her and drop her off at some quiet place where she can get back home safely. No questions asked.

    45. betty fraliex on July 24th, 2005 4:04 pm

paul van der sloot – i saw what you saw and your friend too, so…… you better come forth or you better run and hide. ’cause the truth is comin’ out whether you’re ready or not, bjf

    46. Ardith K. Tolson on July 26th, 2005 5:01 pm

Ok. I’ve been following this story since it broke. I think what’s really sad is the “hiding” of the shaperones who were “legally” responsible for the 125 students put in their care. What’s the point of having shaperones if they are not going to give a crap if your kid goes to bars or is out partying with the locals. Out of 40 “adults”, no one gave one thought to really watching these students? Are they not legally responsible for the lives they promised to watch and protect while on foreign soil?

No one knows anything. No one really even cared enough to make sure the students were safe and with their “buddy”.

They talk about how it is all Van Der Sloot’s fault, yet, no one has even really questioned the shaperones. They all have mysteriously have gone into hiding or are not available for comment.

I believe these “adults” are as equally responsible for the disappearance and possible death of this girl. What’s the point of having them there? They think that because someone is 18 years old that they are immune to any dangers? That being on foreign soil makes them totally safe and filled with adult wisdom on what COULD happen and obviously does happen?

When dealing with the law, however, you may have speculation and suspicion, even a “gut” feeling, however, that is not enough to convinct a person without hard-core evidence. There is NO SIGN of any kind to indicate that the girl is dead. If they cannot find a body nor any physical evidence that proves foul play, they will eventually have to release all suspects in the case. You cannot hold someone indefinately out of suspcion or guilt by association. No law would adhere to such a disregard of evidence.

This is the saddest part of the case. Blood, fibers, a bone, clothing, ANYTHING that would tie the suspect to a murder/kidnapping case is just something they do not possess. So far it has been a he said/she said case with no real evidence to support or deny any wrong doing.

So, what do you have? NOTHING!! Speculation at this point is all anyone can do. And if I were the parents, I would have grilled the shaperones a hell of a lot more than obviously what was done in this case. No one saw Natalee and pretty much, no one really gave a crap about her. That’s the tragedy here!!

She could be on the ocean, in a boat, being held by a prostitution ring that is NOT bound by any law of any country. She could be very much alive but perhaps sold into a sex slavery by the Van Der Sloot’s. NO ONE KNOWS!!

Is this kid capable of killing her? NO ONE KNOWS!!

But none of the evidence can prove, thus far, that she is dead. She may not even be on the island anymore.

Obviously she did not take her passport, which means she is either dead or taken somewhere that a passport is not necessary.

Did ANY KIND of COAST GUARD stop ships surrounding Aruba? That was NOT on their agenda and I’m sure if there was any possibility that she was taken off then Island, she is long gone now.

Speculation and suspicion is ALL they have at this point. I’m sure Joran is banking on it!! LITERALLY!!

one more thing, I was planning to visit aruba again, I had my honeymoon there in 1992. But after watching this debacle go on indefinitely, I get the impression that americans are not welcome in Aruba, and since we have no value in your country, I will not give my money to making your lives more comfortable. So bye, bye Aruba.

Burn in the firey pits of hell Aruba, Depak, Satish, Joran, and Paul! You all are gonna burn! You are all so screwed it ain’t even funny, just like your screwed up brains! Holloways and Twitty’s, I’m behind you all the way.

    52. Wolf on August 15th, 2005 7:57 pm

This whole sex slave trade sounds cool. I wonder when we will get to see the Natalie Holloway sex slave tape?

BTW how likely do you think it might be to have a celebrity snatched and forced to do porn videos? Bin Laden has hidden for this long without being found.

If possible they should snatch Brittney Spears and maybe someone like Nichole Kidman. I sure would like to see the two of them in some videos.

I here you can go to parts of Russia now and buy sex slaves. It is a good time to be alive!

I had a similar experience with my fiance. While both attending a univeristy in san diego my fiance went on a field trip sponsored by international student travel and a man name . while there he druged, gang raped her, passed her around then tortured and mutalated her. she ended up committing suicide in front of me. To this day i am haunted. Making it more difficult is that her parents and others blamed me for it saying “its your fault. you weren’t man enough to protect her.”
      just sharing
