Nancy Pelosi prior to the 2006 mid term elections stated that when Democrats took power 
in Washington, DC that the status quo would change. The American people would see a difference in how things are done. Yea … right. Madame Speaker Pelosi, when it comes to air planes issued … I guess size does matter. So much for maintaining the status quo and yet worse, increasing expenses for the American tax payer.
The Department of Defence yesterday sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that puts limits on the size of the plane she may use to travel across the country and restricts the guests she can bring, The Washington Times has learned. The letter from the Pentagon yesterday cites specific U.S. Code that government policy does not include the routine use of military aircraft for the speaker of the House. “Nonstop service is not guaranteed, meaning she’s getting Hastert’s plane and nothing bigger,” the congressional source said, referring to the commuter jet Mr. Hastert began using for security reasons after the September 11 terrorist attacks. But the administration official said Mrs. Pelosi “wanted to be able to fly between Washington and the West Coast nonstop.” (Washington Times)

In an even more hypocritical venture from Pajama Media, “environmentally-conscious Speaker of the House is taking a chauffeur-driven, gas-guzzling behemoth Chevrolet Tahoe to tomorrow’s Congressional Global Warming Hearing!” The hits just keep on coming.
The Tahoe emits 11 tons of greenhouse gases per year, according to U.S. Department of Energy. The agency ranks it as “one of the worst” vehicles on the road, according to www.fueleconomy.gov, a non-partisan government web site.
The 2005 Chevy Tahoe 1500 4WD gets 15 miles per gallon in city driving.
Update II: Pelosi Says She will Fly Commercial
Please, spare us the BS. Nancy, you probably can’t remember the last time you ever did anything without privilege. You are a politician who is supposed to represent the “People”, which is code for … you do not mingle with the masses.
“I said well, that’s fine, I’m going commercial,” she told Fox News. “I’m not asking to go on that plane. If you need to take me there for security purposes, you’re going to have to get a plane that goes across the country, because I’m going home to my family.”
Update III: Murtha makes threat toward Pentagon
Murtha said he is convinced the Pentagon has been leaking information about the possibility that Pelosi would use large military planes to make her look bad. But he said, “They’re making a mistake when they leak it because she decides on allocations for them,” referring to the Pentagon budget. (SF Chronicle)

Who’s fourth in command?
The first woman ever to be speaker of the house yet i can’t be happy about it coz its her. This woman gets NO respect from me, i can’t even look or listen to her. No wonder we are taxed and retaxed to death, so all these boneheads can jet arround the world while children, elderly and hard working people barely scrape by.
Question: Who do you think is most afraid of the “scandal” continuuing regarding use of military aircraft by the Speaker of the House?
Is it Denny Hastert or Nancy Pelosi?
Hastert has been noticeably quiet on this issue. I wonder why.
Not that I am any fan of Nancy Pelosi, but if she would fly commercial, as I think she should, the government should reimburse her for the travel. A non-stop flight for an elected official, any elected official, is not an unreasonable request and it is rather juvenile to cry about her wanting to go home in that manner.
As for her Tahoe, big deal. I share the belief of global warming. It has been proven several times during the course of the planets’ history before mankind came upon the scene and more than likely will happen again after we are long gone(probably leaving the lowly cockroach to enjoy the fruits of the new rehabbed world once again). Her cruising in a Tahoe may be her subconscious mind admiting the folly of our frail attempts to halt or delay the inevitable. I heard that not only is the earth warming up, but the rest of the planets in the solar system seem to be doing the same. Don’t know if that is true or not but it would make sense.
We tend to give ourselves more credit than we are worthy of sometimes.
Pelosi made the comment that the Pentagon did this because they were upset with her views on the war.
Gee Nancy … you thought that up all by yourself? WOW. You are brilliant.

Red, my point is, I don’t think it’s asking too much to request an aircraft that is capable of flying nonstop to CA. (This should be a no-brainer.) If this requires a 757, then the taxpayers need to suck it up and shell out the dough.
It is very sad that this woman thefirst to be speaker of the house is showing her self so early to be such an incapeable leader by example it will kick back on other women thatr aspire to be in leadership roles also .

hands as to what they were all saying that a woman would do in this position what a shame .
