The thud heard today in Washington, DC was Pelosi Stumbles Out of the Blocks, otherwise known as the “plan crash”. If Nancy Pelosi continues along this path she will soon find herself and the Democratic party on the outside looking in 2008. Nancy, welcome to being in power and not just complaining about Republican policy.
Having said that, Nancy Pelosi’s decision to pick a public fight with her second in command, Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer, is so incomprehensible, so politically stupid that it has raised eyebrows among political journalists and insiders of all type.
Instead of generating front page stories about the Democrats’ agenda, Pelosi has made herself and divisions within her party the story du jour. (Taegan Goddard)
NOT TO BE OUT DONE … (Vanderbilt – ‘06)
The first 100 hours of this enterprise is not showing much progress. The cause of the crash has been determined to be a case of extreme overload in very hot air conditions. Luckily, the intended pilot gets to walk away without major injury. Captain Murtha hopes to fly another day.
So does this mean that the “cut & run” strategy proposed by the more liberal side of the Democratic House has crashed and burned as well? Many newly elected House Democrats are from conservative areas. They have much to answer to their constituencies. Agreeing with much of Pelosi’s agenda is going to be a hard bargain.

I have seen dead skunks with more personality.
Murtha looks like that ALL the time! For 40 years he was elected in my district – not by me! He has NOT changed one bit. I am glad he lost.
Five or six years ago, I took a cruise on a converted Russian icebreaker to Antarctica. There are lots of penguins on land, whales and other animals in the water, and no people living there except for scientific types in research stations. For half the year or so, conditions are so bad that they can’t be visited.
Reading the news these days, Antarctica is looking like an awfully attractive place to be….
Do we have two years of political fractiousness to “look forward” to? (Not to mention the nausea-inducing prospect of yet another presidential election coming up….)
So they have all the answers and all the wonderful plans, etc. I’m just going to sit back and let them take the blame for everything that goes wrong now. After all, it’s on their watch now!
And looks like they are off to a predictable start of flubbing it all up. Pelosi was counting on most people not being old enough to remember Abscam but those of us who follow politics sure do. Had her fav right on tape talking about taking bribes, etc. And he has those now registered agents, etc. still.
Wonder why he didn’t resign the way the Republicans always do when associated with scandal? I think I had actually forgotten that moral relevance is alive and well and still actually exists in some minds. I’m OK, You’re OK.
Well, unless you happen to be a conservative then you are not OK! The old rules are back and the waffling with them.
But just keep in mind, no matter what happens, they the Democrats are in charge of both houses of congress. It is ALL happening on their watch. So let’s watch!
