Elections Have Consequences … You Have got to be Kidding? War advice from Mc Govern to Congress

File this one under …  don’t ask for things, they might come true.McGovern

So we have the UN happy over the Democratic take over of the House and Senate. Then we have Dictators, Islamofascists Celebrate Democratic Gains. So how does it get worse?

George McGovern is to meet with Congress to recommend a strategy to remove US troops from Iraq. Good God, you have got to be kidding. I have to agree with Red State, I am at a complete and total loss for words. Um, George … what drew the Islamofascists to kill nearly 3000 people on 9–11? McGovern? Didn’t the American people already voice their opinion on McGovern back in 1972?

“The best way to reduce this insurgency is to get the American forces out of there,” McGovern said. “That’s what’s driving this insurgency.”

The idea that terrorists are just going to pack up and go home and stop being terrorists is one of the most naive, foolish and frightening concepts ever. McGovern obviously forgetting about The Killing Fields.

Then we get the real reason why politicians do anything. For “We the People”? No … to maintain power and control. Maybe McGovern would like to ask the voters of CT why they voted in pro-war, Independent Joe Lieberman handily over an anti-war, Democratic candidate? Connecticut is hardly a red state. Jimmy Carter will be advising next on Iraq.

If Democrats don’t take steps to end the war in Iraq soon, they won’t be in power very long, McGovern told reporters before a speech at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Breitbart)

One thing is for certain, there is a big divide in the Democratic party. Its not pulling troops out of Iraq that will hurt Democrats in future elections. It will have been pretending to be something you are not to the voters to get elected.

Did anyone hear on the news about : al qaeda wanting to destroy the White house?

Drudge is reporting the President of Iraq received assurances in September that there would be no wholesale troop withdrawal. He was told this by Democrat leaders and to expect a continuation of policy in the event of a Democrat victory in both Houses of Congress.

Hillary is already just orgasmic about the tax increases they are going to implement so much so she couldn’t even wait 72 hours before talking about them and how they are just a must. Recent record revenues into the U.S. Treasury from taxes will be a thing of the past as they stifle any future growth and force up interest rates. Inflation and suppression of growth is insured as they tank the economy for their tax and spend policies.

Those getting minimun wage increases will lose them to higher interest rates and more taxes, congrats! And all that talk about civility applies only to conservatives as liberals are going full speed ahead with the mudslinging while demanding others refrain.

Business as usual under liberal governance. Maybe they can shift enough troops to Afghanistan to free up some al Quada in Iraq so that they can come here instead of being in all tied up in Iraq. Earth to McGovern. 9-11 happened BEFORE we went to war in Iraq, not after. Guess he thinks with the replacement of Rumsfeld, they are all laying down their weapons and embracing? Well, national security has always been a Democrat weakness. The economy has always been a Democrat weakness. I’m still looking for whatever it is that is their strength other than raising taxes and promoting abortions. It’s certainly not anything that is important to me as I don’t receive welfare and am not interested in becoming a socialist nation.

Those people who are not elderly troglodytes, as I am (well, more or less) probably don’t even know who McGovern is. A generation ago the country rejected his message.

Shouldn’t there be some kind of rule that losers can’t stay in politics forever? I guess the only rule is that it’s the one area where, in something like the words of James Bond, “Nothing is forever” … not even failure.

But for McGovern to presume to give advice is like me telling the Harlem Globetrotters how to play basketball (N.B. … I’m a 5’2″ man).

Miss-Underestimated (#2), just remember … if al-Qaida is talking about destroying the White House, it must be our fault.

Remember, America is always wrong and the Third World is always right. So we are led to believe these days, anyway.

So if they succeed … hey, it’s OUR FAULT. For what, I don’t know … but it must be.

richard, that’s a good analogy. how about a rule requiring certification of saneness, morality, and the ability to think their way out of a wet paper bag, before being able to run for any public office.

Someone needs to put a zipper on hillary-Les…
we sure don’t need another oral-gate in the
whitehouse, but according to the Muslims, thw
whitehouse will be destroyed before the 2008
election. So hillary may have to work out of
a motel, buuuutttt, maybe she has experience?????

    9. Leo on November 10th, 2006 2:16 pm

Yeah, we should stay in Iraq for years to come just to spite George McGovern. Who listens to George Mcgovern anymore anyway – except you guys?

In case you haven’t noticed Bush’s plan for turning Iraq into an “oasis of democracy in the Middle East” is a failure. It simply ain’t going to happen. Bush never offered a realistic alternative vision and American voters have shown their displeasure at staying in a war when victory is no longer possible. Hopefully, the Baker Commission will suggest a redeployment in Iraq to regions where our forces can do some good and not be killed in somebody else’s civil war. If the Baker Commission fails, Bush is going to hand over the biggest mess any American president passed on to his successor to clean up.

[...] What did George McGovern say? [...]

    11. MIss-Underestimated on November 10th, 2006 3:15 pm

Oh Puuuleeeze,,,,Leo, if Bush didn’t step in we would not be here bloggin….they wanted (911) and still want us dead, what is so hard to understand about that?

Degeneration of the USA from the inside out now, gonna be a long two years.

    12. Scared Monkeys on November 10th, 2006 5:59 pm

Leo … the same nay sayers said Germany … Japan … (fill in the blank) would fail as well.

What was supposed to happen Leo … Islamofascists were supposed to build up behind the scenes under the cloak of darkness and then spring their attacks on us like 9-11?

This is the failed argument of the LEFT. News flash … none of us like war. What were the options? We were going to have to fight them eventually. These fanatical terrorists were not going to remain quite in their caves.

The term sleeper cell means what exactly? That they had already been formed?

Terrorism was not created because GWB went to Iraq … It was already there. The world is a complex, dangerous place … I ask the question since Leo thinks that GWB is leaving the problem for others.

What would the world look like today if Bill Clinton had done his job and kicked some terrorism a$$ after the first Twin Tower’s bombing? Imagine if we had a 7-8 year head start back in the early 90′s of really dealing with terrorism instead of post 9-11-01.

Don’t talk about leaving someone holding the bag … Clinton left a recession and terror issue, let alone a moral one when he departed the White House with the silver and china.

I don’t know the answers to the Iraq situation (hey, let’s remember, we DID win the war against Saddam’s army, and that in a brilliant fast campaign).

However, it doesn’t take too many brains to figure out that a rapid withdrawal of our soldiers is going to lead to a repeat of Vietnam … probably “ethnic cleansing” of a scale seen in Bosnia or Cambodia (not that it isn’t going on now, anyway, in private feuds, though to a lesser degree … but we can’t stop them from that) … and a huge propaganda victory for al-Qaida.

Not to mention the impact on every “pro-Western” regime in the Middle East. That’s not to say that they love us (only Americans somehow seem to obsess over being loved), but seeing the regimes that run the Gulf states collapse would be watching the lights go out all over the West.

I KNOW what his agenda was in the past… to get us out of
Viet Nam. We voted and, unfortunately, we believed a liar
and a crook. There is nothing wrong with McGovern… he
just has never cared for war… and, really, do any of us?

If it takes McGovern to help us then I say, let him help.
Afterall, we should have believed him the FIRST time. He
is not a loser, he just played a game against a liar that
was going to win, no matter what… Any guesses???

    15. dennisintn on November 11th, 2006 12:06 pm

mcgovern is a loser, and is as out of touch with reality as carter. carter is a really good and decent man, but his grasp on human nature is tenuous to say the very least.

If PEACE is his mission in life, I don’t care HOW old he
is… let him have his glory!!! For he will receive it
in heaven. Please. If it takes him and a thousand like
him, I don’t care, just let there be peace.

    17. kevin on November 11th, 2006 9:50 pm

Neville Chamberlin wanted peace too. Our desires for peace are irrelevent in the face of an enemy who is hellbent on jihad for Allah’s sake. Would you accept a peace that includes sharia law in the US? (Read Koran 9:29) Because that’s what it’s going to take. So, put on your burqua, bow towards mecca, and give up your freedom for peace!
