Canada, Don’t Worry about your Tourism … It could be worse … You could be Uruguay or Aruba

It seems that our friends in “The Great White North” are having some tourism issues lately. IgorCanada’s tourism rate has gone down 4.1%, while tourists traveling abroad is up about 4.5%. We just want to remind them it could be worse. Just remember Canada, to borrow a line from Young Frankenstein.’

Igor: Could be worse.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: How?
Igor: Could be raining …“Or Aruba”

So how could it be worse? Read on … One knows when they have made it to the bottom of  the tourism food chain when they are referenced in the same sentence as tourism hot spots like Montserrat and Uruguay. That’s correct Aruba, “One Happy Island,” mentioned in the same sentence as these two declining tourism hot beds.

UraguayLP

Uruguay … tastes just like Aruba

In the Americas, Canada’s percentage decline is exceeded only by Montserrat, where the Soufriere Hill volcano that erupted with devastating effect in 1995 is still rumbling; Aruba, scene of the much-publicized Natalee Holloway murder; and Uruguay. (Winnipeg Free Press)

Monserrat’s issue is a volcano. One can understand that maybe some might think an active volcano might be a detriment to a fun vacation. An active lava flow while tanning might pose a problem. That or your paid for hotel is no longer standing.  And Uruguay, well its Uruguay. Then there is Aruba. The government officials wonder why their tourism is where its at? Eventually you will figure it out. Or continue to be on a tourism pace with Uruguay.

Back to Canada. Personally I think one of Canada’s issues is that the Canadian dollar has Canadian-flagrebounded significantly to the $US. Many more Canadians are coming south to the US that the other way around. I believe there are also misconceptions regarding its image as well. Seems that the Officials of the Canadian tourism industry think they have am image problem.

Officials of the Canadian tourism industry have been aware for some time Canada has an “image” problem, and the Canadian Tourism Commission is spending $75-million a year to improve it through its “Brand Canada” campaign. It involves advertising and encouraging overseas media to report on the joys of visiting the Great White North.

Just bring Bob & Doug McKenzie back that will do wonders. Who didn’t love that? Also I am partial to the Canadian national Anthem, second only to our own. Guess I have been to one too many hockey games.

PEI Beach

Seriously, for those that have never been to Canada … go. Prince Edward Island in the Maritime Province is fantastic.Charlottetown is a great little city with restaurants galore. What makes PEI uniquely different is its Scottish.  Actually has warmer ocean waters than New England because of the gulf stream. PEI has everything from beaches to camping to Anne of Green Gables. By the way, if you love sea food and muscles … PEI has the best.

Quebec City during Winter Carnival is a blast.  What happens in Quebec City stays in Quebec City.  Winter Carnival was a college tradition. Oh yea the ice sculptures were Bonhommebeyond description. It was a little like Mardi Gras on ice without the beads and safer.  Ottawa and Toronto, also great cities to visit. For Boston Red Sox fans going to Sky Dome, home of the Toronto Blue Jays is actually an easier ticket than getting one at Fenway Park. Also the streets of Toronto are easier to manage than Boston and there is no “Big Dig” there to hold your breath when driving in a tunnel.

Although Montreal was a bit too much city for me and the language issue was a bit of a problem; there was so much to do there. Restaurants, bars and Cuban cigars a definite plus. Also, The Jardin botanique de Montrà ©al or Montreal Botanical Garden is absolutely breath taking. I must see for those that are not even into plants, flowers and trees. The scenery and landscapes are amazing.

Botonical garden Mont

I have heard great things about Calgary and Vancouver, but have never had the opportunity to visit. Canada is so vast and different from Province to Province like the Unites States. Get the chance, go north and check out … The Great White North … you will find its not always white and there’s tons to do.

Speaking of Aruba, have we forgotten about Natalee? I certainly hope NOT!!Seems as though SM has lost interest. Come on guys don’t let the Natalee issue find the back burner. What’s Beth up to these days,Where is she speaking next? What about JQK?He seems nonexistent, but then he always has, imo, sorry justice, just telling it like it is.I continue to pray for answers, and for Beth. Are the guilty really untouchable?Seems as though they are.All we can do as Americans is to pray and Boycott this awful place.
      God be with Beth Twitty.

Has anyone besides me noticed that Arubassilence.com’s blog is gone? That is where I would go to view the Aruba-Bay/Chicago videos and now it is gone. They had some good stuff there. Does anyone know anywhere else the entire collection can be located? I know SM has 8 of the videos posted in the archives.

Judy W, I will pass on your comment to the owner of ArubaSilence. I know that she is planning to launch a new blog.

Patti asked me to talk about the “radio time.” For a moment I forgot what she was talking about! But what it means is this: a recent lead story in The Wall Street Journal mentioned some con artist stuff involving radio programs operating out of Miami. That isn’t relevant to our quest.

But what is interesting is that some radio stations down there broker time. That is, for $500 an hour or less one can buy an hour of radio time, and use it pretty much for whatever one wants to say. Apparently some con artists were buying time and then targeting immigrants with get-rich-quick financial schemes.

But for our purposes, since the airwaves of some of these stations reach Aruba, we, the family, or whoever is interested could buy time to deliver a “message.” And if this were prepared ahead of time, say by ads in Jossy Mansur’s paper and by handouts on the island, we might get a lot of Aruban listeners and could state our case to them directly.

    8. Richard on November 9th, 2006 5:49 am

And what I came here to say in the first place … Nova Scotia is another tremendous place to visit.

We Americans should never forget how, on 9/11, some Canadian firemen and other personnel just got in their vehicles and came south to see what they could do.

Likewise, the response of those people in Newfoundland (?) when that jet went down some years back. For four or five days, they took the people in to their homes.

Let’s search our souls for a minute: if there were a disaster in Canada, would we respond so readily? I hope so. It seems, though, that we give Canada rapturous applause when they help us out in one of our scrapes … after which, there is total indifference until the next tragedy. So it goes, I guess.

(I know that my college, after Canada helped us out with the captives in the U.S. Embassy in Iran, decided to start a School of Canadian Studies or some such thing. Very nice indeed … except if you’re going to study Canada, why do it in Vermont, when you can cross the border and be right there?)

Not sure what you have missed.

      Dutch crime reporter/investigator
Peter R. De Vries is on Aruba right now. He is trying to solve the case and will do an upcoming show (Crimestoppers) about Natalee. Word is that he is zeroing in on Joran.

You didn’t think your Kelly comment would slip by me, did you? LOL
In all seriousness, IMO Kelly is doing a lot of legal paperwork, research, etc. behind the scenes to help the family. You would be surprised how much research and paperwork goes into law.

Kelly is a smart lawyer who has his own style. He doesn’t need to go on TV to stroke his own ego or shoot off his mouth like spinmeister Tacopina.

#7 I admire your faith…You really think someone in Aruba to include JMansur, after 18 months, (after all that has transpired and all that has been made clear) would ever step up to the plate…. Perhaps I’m just more untrusting of people’s motives (especially Arubans) than yourself…. It is an admirable trait on your part.

    16. Richard on November 9th, 2006 11:30 am

I’m sure that Mansur would run ads, perhaps help get pamphlets out to the people, etc. Obviously there would be no point in the family’s, or anyone else’s, putting on a radio show broadcast to Aruba if people hadn’t been informed about it beforehand.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Colombian second-division soccer club Cortulua is a front company for one of the South American country’s four most wanted cocaine kingpins, U.S. officials said Tuesday while announcing the freezing any U.S. assets belonging to the team.

In a news release, the U.S. Treasury Department identified Cortulua as one of 10 companies and seven individuals allegedly operating on behalf of Carlos Alberto Renteria Mantilla, one of the four leaders of the Norte del Valle cartel, the country’s biggest.
The team is based in Tulua near the southern city of Cali, which has long been a hotbed of Colombia’s narcotics trade. Cortulua qualified for the Copa Libertadores in 2002, has played in the Colombian first division as recently as 2005 and appears poised to return to the top flight next season.

Colombian soccer teams have been linked to the drug trade in the past. In the 1980s it was revealed that the late cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar had ties to Medellin’s Atletico Nacional and the Rodriguez Orejuela brothers, head of the Cali cartel, to their hometown team America. Currently Colombia’s National Drug Directorate controls a stake in Bogota’s Millionarios club that used to belong to Jose Gonzalo Rodriguez Gacha.

The move came as police in Spain arrested a senior cartel member wanted for extradition by the United States.

The comment “And Uruguay, well its Uruguay”, which I assume is meant as a demeaning statement, was perceived as indicating lack of information as to the reason for this country’s decrease in tourism.

To imply that tourism tendency in Aruba and Uruguay are decreasing because they are more or less the same is myopic in nature. They are not comparable. Can one compare the South Africa to The Seychelles?

I would say that it is more logical to compare Canada to Uruguay. Going to Montevideo is just as great as visiting Quebec, Old Montreal, and Toronto. Flying to Prince Edward Island is just as exhilarating as taking a hop to Punta del Este. Either having a boom fire with Uruguayan Gauchos or with Canadian Cowboys would be a similar experiences, just as going to slaughter houses in both Manitoba or Mercedes, or seeing the great wheat fields in the central Canadian plains and the heart of Uruguayan agricultural lands along the Brazilian border.
I don’t’ know why Uruguay’s tourism is decreasing, but DO NOT confuse it with Paraguay. Uruguay is one of the most socially advanced South American states, with a welfare structure begun at the beginning of the XX Century; it has social legislation that clearly establishes and defends the rights of workers, the elder and disable, working women and children and Human Rights organizations function openly in this SA country.
Lets keep in mind that even if the handling of the Natalee Holloway case’s repercussions have affected Aruba’s tourism figures and its international image, we don’t have information other than repetitive and biased editorials out of Aruba, indicating that the decline in tourism is due exclusively to a boycott and the repercussions of negative publicity.

During the last months, we have been exposed to Aruba’s need of a common political goal. Its parliament is a power struggle and the government apparently has in effect misguided fiscal and monetary policies that limit economic growth, maintains high public spending, forces hotel price increases, and creates deficits, unemployment and discontent.

The lack of focus on the economic end has also contributed to the situation that the island is experiencing. And if we read the comments of posters from Aruba, we are told that things over there are not as bad as we figure they are. This is understandable given the uniformity of its socioeconomic structure: essentially middle class in its entirety, so they are all equally affected, not some more than others, in ways that create marked social injustice.

So it’s time to start preparing ourselves for seeing sometime soon the end of a negative trend in Arubian economic performance, and start thinking of alternative means to keep the NH story alive in the SM discussions, other than launching the fight for justice from the pad of island’s negative media coverage.

      SM: SL Goria said,

The comment “And Uruguay, well its Uruguay”, which I assume is meant as a demeaning statement, was perceived as indicating lack of information as to the reason for this country’s decrease in tourism.

No … you are 100% incorrect in your assessment.

When on earth anywhere in United States or Canada what you heard an tourism ad that said … Come to Uruguay … the way it was … the way it can be again? NEVER!!!

The point was is how on Earth can Aruba’s tourism be lower than that of a place that is not known nor dependent upon tourism? That  was the point. Imagine having a place where 78% of an economy being compared to that of a place like Uruguay. Can you imagine how Aruba’s tourism compares to places like where they have a direct relation to like Jamaica, Virgin Islands, Barbados, Bahamas …

      That was the point.

Of course Aruba’s tourism can only go down so far, that is why they call it the basement. The numbers are never going to be zero. However, there is a certain level that has to be maintained to break even, they are not even close.  Ã‚  Even if their tourism goes up 5 – 10%, it still is terrible. The damage has already been done.

Gee, no wonder that not a single aruban wants to post here cuz you guys have great imaginations. You guys have manage to come up with so many horror stories about Aruba that makes the Exorcist movie look like a joke and even Linda decided not post here anymore. You guys should become horrormovie directors. I like the part about bodyparts everywhere. I didn’t know we were at war but anyway…I know you guys hate everything about Aruba but I don’t think you should come up with stories that is simply not true or just rumours. Ow and I agree, Canada is a very beautiful country!!!

Good news!!:) Peter R de Vries is in Aruba and he already came with a link to one of the suspects. It turns out that one of the suspects (WHICH ONE???) threw someone ( I think a choller) into the sea a couple of years back and they think that there might be a connection there and he and his team is investigating this right now.

      Anyway people take care

    25. Roy on November 9th, 2006 1:22 pm

I’ll go one further…. Seems to me he (JM) thinks he is better served by silence or playing stupid than actually solving this case he seemed so sincere about early on. Fighting over the scraps (economic) of Aruba imo makes him look very Renfro-like, only different affiliations. (political)….. Julia Renfro was and has been targeted by Mansur cronies and Mansur himself has contradicted her on more than one point…. I’m not Aruban… just an American who sees them both as clones protecting their interests… Pretty much all the harsh things said about Renfro on these boards can also be directed at JM. Hell, the guy foretold of the anti-Beth campaign before it really got off the ground good….He knows sh** and he usually knows it before it happens. I don’t post here much anymore but I still lurk quite often….Have resisted the temptation until the last couple of days…Guess the Mansur name just boils my blood. Love watching you people work hard on behalf of Natalee…. Just fervently disagree as it relates to the Mansur’s.. I sincerely believe they are the greatest obstacle to overcome to find the truth. 33. Patti on November 9th, 2006 3:33 pm

      I like Richard’s idea and I’ll tell you why…

The Abubans, the people, are truly the ones that can do
more to help with this case than anybody. If Natalee
was killed there, as we all think that she probably was,
then how many of THEIR girls do you think go missing???

Who are the ones that especially get hurt by the lack
of tourism in their country??? The People. You neeed
to get them fired up so that they are not just hearing
the pleas from people from “other” countries, but also
      from their own.

When I was in Aruba, several years back, you could tell
within a few minutes of shopping or sitting in McDonalds
that there is a double standard there. If you can get
people fired up about the double standard that they have
there, they would probably be alot more cooperative to
try to do something. Right now all they think is that
they have Natalee’s family and friends urging Americans
to boycott. If they have their own people saying “We
want something done to improve our way of living and/or
we are tired of the whitewash, too; we can get more done.

Do you really think that the injustice in Aruba is aimed
only at Natalee and her family???? I don’t think so. So
use the insatisfaction that the PEOPLE have toward their
      crooked government to your advantage.

    34. Patti on November 9th, 2006 3:48 pm

I’m sorry I wrote that so fast… insatisfaction… is that
      even a word?????

But I hope you get my point and that being that IF an
American citizen cannot get justice there, then, what
about their own citizens? You know what the Dutch have
      going there, don’t you? Colonialism.

You need to tap into the anger that their OWN people have
about the lack of justice and change things from the
INSIDE out. Then you’ll get justice. Otherwise, you
simply look like a bunch of spoiled Americans trying to
      get only what you want.

Continue writing about those injustices but also tell the
ones that truly have the power to do something about it.

    35. JusticeforNatalee on November 9th, 2006 4:07 pm

      Please don’t attack Arubaanse.
      Arubaanse is our friend.

    36. Mortella on November 9th, 2006 4:07 pm

I have never been to Canada but I would love to go some day. I don’t know why they have low tourism rate unless it is a lack of attractions for tourist? Maybe they don’t really cater to them or count them as a vital part of their economy as does Aruba. I don’t hear anything bad about Canada and everyone I know who has gone there reported a safe and wonderful trip.

We need to keep up every angle we can on the boycott. It is slowly working and the name Aruba is slowly working it’s way into the language in a very negative way, sort of a synonym for being made to disappear. This will last for years and years and continue to slowly grow. Remember to write Boycott Aruba Justice for Natalee Holloway on all your currency as that is some of the most widely circulated things we have.

    37. Richard on November 9th, 2006 4:15 pm

I’m not saying that Jossy Mansur is a saint on earth.

I am saying that it’s reasonable to assume, given his prior support of the Holloway Twitty family, that he would do what he has already been doing: urging, publicly, Aruba to take the case seriously.

So I think it’s feasible to assume that he would help the family in such things as running ads, leaving pamphlets describing the radio program around the island, etc.

Obviously, I have no idea if any such thing is planned. It would require a fair amount of preparation.

But my point was that it would probably be cheaper to pay $500 an hour for the time on a radio that would be heard in the Caribbean than the rates for an ad in the New York Times, as some were proposing.

Even more important, the audience would be people in Aruba. What would the message be? I have no idea. But I think one key tenet of this whole campaign should be emphasized: those of us who advocate a boycott of Aruba are doing so not because we hate the Aruban people (it seems that the Aruban government has instilled that idea in its people’s heads) but because we have NO OTHER TOOL in our fight for BASIC JUSTICE AND DECENCY.

If Aruba cannot or will not solve this case, then we are fully entitled to assume that tourist safety and well-being is of no concern to the powers that be there. Indeed, it is more likely than not that other tourists will be targeted … as has been happening elsewhere in the Caribbean.

The Aruban government is failing its own people as well as ours. THAT is the message that we have to get to them, and maybe galvanize them into demanding justice for Natalee, for Americans … and for themselves as well.

Otherwise, the consequences will be on their own heads.

Hola Jerry/Gloria… Good to see you guys again as well. Have had so much on my plate these last few months, it’s been hard to manage any free time. Not to mention, it was getting extremely difficult to write on the subject of Natalee…When Grande started posting, everything started making sense…even if I may view his material a little differently than he. Putting Natalee’s fate in context with Aruba’s political climate made it difficult to understand people’s motives and agendas… To include many of the internet bloggers and posters…..IE Deetch, one of my favorites till he took some pot-shots at Bacchus and Robin Holloway of all people…I can recount numerous examples but needless to say, agendas seemed to take priority over the cold truth…that included some SM posters…Not knowing if those motives/agendas were sincere, not to mention misleading, can be very difficult to respond to. Good to see you again…Later

    39. Roy on November 9th, 2006 4:50 pm

Patti: With all due respect, I disagree. As an American, I have no desire to affect change in Aruba, not when I see the alternates on the sidelines. Yes, their government is crooked, and without any doubt in my mind, they used their knowledge of Natalee’s fate to secure Oduber’s position in the 2005 parliamentary elections. Benefactors of the AVP f’d up and the best they can do is toil on and remain steadfast in their baked up story. By making issue with Arubans standard of living or even the injustices suffered by everyday Arubans by their own government is nothing more than political folly. If those are issues in Aruba, let the AVP make issue out of it….That’their job… It would probably be more effective than say, a political dirty trick that affected tourism to turn public opinion.
If Arubans truly feel that Beth and her family are the sole catalyst for any boycott, then Arubans would be pretty stupid as I’m sure they know, only 3 of 50 states elected to do so….More disdain for Aruba is created here on these boards than I ever hear coming from the HT’s… at least, anymore… I can’t recall the last time any significant story with Beth or Dave aired. It’s all voluntary and ANY Aruban ill-feeling towards the HT’s would be because Arubans are accepting the propoganda of Dompig, the ATA, the MEP and the AVP. Richard’s right about one thing, I’d love to see Beth or Dave address the island of Aruba..that would be awesome…..As for telling those that truly have the power..what can they be told that they haven’t.

    40. Patti on November 9th, 2006 5:00 pm

I agree with Richard. I don’t think that EVERYONE on the
island (and truly the island is quite small) sides with
the courts on this issue… we need to get them on our
side. Put a new face to the message.

Make them FEEL that this is truly THEIR problem, instead
of just ours. You can’t make a horse drink, but you can
certainly stand there and encourage him to get thirsty…
and these people have been thirsty for justice for a very
      long time.

      #23, Red:

In reference to your reply, if that is the case, then Canada should definitely drop dead, because in absolute terms it is embarrassing that an indicator of a fully industrialized economy, a member of G8, should be compared to those of Uruguay and Aruba.

What the article reported were relative figures in tourism decline, not absolute numbers, so the statement “Imagine having a place where 78% of an economy being compared to that of a place like Uruguay” is without doubt a misestimation too. In addition, the article never states that Aruba’s tourism is lower than that of “a place like Uruguay”. It clearly says that Canada’s decline in percentage visits is surpassed by Montserrat, Uruguay and Aruba.

“a place like Uruguay” I imagine is an inadvertent “lordly” appreciation of a country’s worth and its economic performance. Check out Uruguay, you’ll be surprised.

I think the most important comment of the Winnipeg Free Press article is the fact that it states “Aruba, scene of the much-publicized Natalee Holloway murder”, which reveals that even if the judicial system of Aruba has not rendered a verdict, this newspaper corroborates the underlying verdict delivered by the international public opinion: guilty of brutally killing Natalee Holloway.

The VanDerSloots and Kalpoes are guilty, forget evidence, take what is known fact and draw the logical conclusion. It’s so simple it’s embarrassing to the Aruban people and shameful that the Gov’t embraces the coverup.
It’s disgusting that the Aruban people won’t/don’t demand that their leaders take a stand and hold these leeches responsible. It makes them accomplices in a way.
If any Aruban national thinks the White Dutch have any interest in promoting the quality of life on Aruba, they are sadly mistaken. The Dutchies that run Aruba are only there for their self gratification and promotion.

    57. Patti on November 9th, 2006 9:08 pm

Who is the white boy???? I believe that he is the one that
killed Natalee? The other two WERE scared that Natalee may
have DNA on her that related back to one of them, So the two
brothers lied to protect eachother… in the beginning.

Now they are taking orders from the white boy of what to
say as he has tangled his web of lies aLLLLLL around them.
HE is using his power to keep them there. They are scared.
But they did not kill Ms. Natalee.

I think that whoever said the white boy went back to the
Hotel to arouse Natalee was right. But the other two were
not with him. The problem is that there is soooo much
guilt to go around, everyone feels guilty. But the one
that is truly guilty is only one and that is the white boy.

They never killed anybody before, did they? They’ve had
women before, but they never killed anybody.

See, I see that everybody is just dying to tell, but every-
body feels so guilty that noone is speaking. Have the
police ever talked to the two brothers about making a deal
for their testimony? The lying is what has them worried.

How long are the Dutch supposed to be there?????

      Hey WB!

The calf and the arm are so close together,
it is easy to lose your place while looking
at them. the calf and the arm are right there.
you can see where the arm terminates with the
hand. In other pictures I have seen another
hand close to the right hand… it almost
appears that the hands were tied – behind the
      back style.

The foot sticking out, I am pretty sure about that because
in various other shots… I took that foot zoomed
in and rotated it. In one shot I can make out
toes and toe nails, and what looks like a
      wound.

Not sure about the other stuff, I’ll take

Thanks Vicki and all who expressed interest in my idea. Let me say, though, that the only ones who would have cause to address the Aruban people via radio or any other way (at least in my opinion) would be the Holloway Twitty family. For me, or you, or anyone else to do it would seem pointless … as if anyone would care what we’d say.

So what I was getting at is that if an occasion where the family thought it was useful to talk with the Aruban people, or to communicate with them, doing something via radio might be more efficient and cheaper than taking out a newspaper ad in an American publication.

I just hope the family hold the idea in reserve for such time, if any, when it might prove worthwhile.

You’re absolutely right. That’s why this cover up is so hard to uncover. You’ve got all these powerful strings
attached to these three boys. The two brothers are the
most liked and they are mixed up with something that is
way over their heads. They are afraid to talk. And on
the other side you’ve got the Vander Sloots that have pro-

Come on, monkeys doesn’t someone besides me see this as strange? And what happen to the “gardner”? Did someone show him the Abyss?

Floria Caribbean Cruise Association stated today – 11/10/06 -that Aruban Cruise Tourism will be a record high of 600000 to 610000.

They also announced – for those like SM who obviously did not know already – that thre new cruise ships will call Aruba their home port beginning 2007.

Over 1200 new jobs and multi multi millions in income.

Canada should wish for such an increase.

      Hi Patti,

Yes, I agree they are INDEED very sad. I don’t know
about u… but they make me angry too!

Angry at those ghouls that did it… & a
pos 3rd world country that stood
      aside and let it happen.

      * ( Yes they are aware. )

      Don’t those
      wankers like O’DUBER and CROES
      have daughters?

Hey RUDY & NELSEY… how would you like it
if it happened to your daughter … and
someone from the US murdered them in
cold blood & tossed ‘em in the trash can
      on US soil? Hmmmm?

      I have a feeling if that happened…
      some murderer’s heads would be
      getting kicked in!

Jerry, #68…. No, you’re not the only one that smells that crap. I hear ya and concur fully. That gardner is not the only one (person) used in the initial stages to frame a story. Him, Leo Gabriel, Charles Croes, the Mansur tagging along with Art Wood, and many many more.
Patti: You seem very sincere and I like that but coming across as an apologist for k2, I personally believe is wrong…Joran or any Sloot for that matter is not a Kalpoe benefactor…Perhaps Dompig, Dinesh when he was alive, maybe P. Mohammed, NV Cartel maybe,…. K2 has had 18 months to clear up their initial statements….Nothing, they are liars and murderers in my book. The skeeters tape when asked if he had sex with Natalee was a nod in the negative and words to the affirmative….A bunch of BS to leave us guessing, pondering, and debating while this case grows another month colder….Every step by this bunch has been calculated and there has been no remorse from any Kalpoe family member….Not picking on you girl, the board needs more people like yourself asking these very questions and believe me, at the end of the day, yours is the only opinion that matters….. until we start getting some convictions down there that is…. “Keep truckin”

600 to 610000 with a tidy 188 million increase in income.

      Please keep up the boycott.

Might help Canada touism if you boycott them.

      Leeb:

What the Amigoe article states is that three new cruise ships will be coming to Aruba starting in 2007, to replace Carnival Destiny, which will cease its service at the end of this year. It continues to say that with the forecasted passengers visits, by the end of next year total cruise ship passenger visits will reach 600,000 to 610,000, an absolute record figure.

That is certainly good news for the Arubian economy, but little will this do if the Government continues to increase taxes as a means to remediate deficits caused by excessive spending, which in turn reduces incentive to invest, and consequently diminishes production, jobs, income. The Government will eat up the additional earnings generated by the increase cruise ship visits if it doesn’t change its fiscal policy.

nobody says those 600 thousand passengers have to disembark at aruba either.
and how many of those 600 thousand does it take to replace the potential visitors lost when carnival stops?

figures lie and liars figure. especially aruban ones.
      dennisintn

    91. leeb on November 10th, 2006 4:55 pm

On the basis of the current data before the end of this year between 600,000 and the 610,000 cruising passengers have the island visited and that is an abso absolute record.

this is an exact translation of the article.

      This year is 2006.

As the US owned and controlled IMF dictated the increase in taxes I doubt very much that the above mentioned analysis is
valid. In fact it would be impossible for the Aruban government to eat up the profit with the present or planned tax rate.

      Is your real name Mansur.

Caribbean doing well … except one. It would appear that many Caribbean islands are taking advantage of Aruba’s misfortune. Plundering their tourists if you will. Making up for past years. Does anyone really think that other Caribbean islands are not exploiting Aruba’s screw ups for their own gains? Looks like the rest of the Caribbean have become the true, Pirates of the Caribbean. #91,

      Dear (or Dier?) Leeb:

A country yields to the IMF’s demands if it feels it has no alternative. So from what you explained, Arubian institutionalism must feel against the wall. Show me a country that is or has been under IMF restructure, and I’ll show you a country that lags in economic prosperity. Get it over with; Dollarize or adopt the Euro, close the freaking Central Bank, eliminate the origin of governmental corruption, and misguided economic policies. Why should a town of 100 thousand emulate the governmental structure of multi-dimensional over-seven figure societies?

My real name is not Mansur, God forbid; it’s Chemaly. Keep practicing your keyboards, Bill.

    96. Patti on November 10th, 2006 10:42 pm

If Roy doesn’t trust the man that you all are talking about,
surely there are other ways of passing out the word. Perhaps you can get someone else? If nothing else, you could print out handfuls and hand them out to people that
are bound for Aruba. Get the ships to hand them out. What
do they care that you are looking for Natalee? In fact, the
people may want to do it, to make themselves look concerned.
It would maybe even get on television if some one made a call to Nancy Grace or someone like her.

There are possibilities. Plus….. this story HAS been on
the news quite regularly so they won’t mind doing it again.
Especially if they know about the pictures. The pictures
tell a million stories, but they all say the same thing.
How can they deny that? Doesn’t EVERYBODY in America have
a theory? Get THAT goin’ again… that’s all.

    97. Patti on November 10th, 2006 10:49 pm

This boy likes animals too. He likes men, mostly… as that
is the biggest power trip. Plus I feel that he is very un-
comforable with his own sexuality. He is just ALLLLLL the
      way arooooouuuuuund messsssssssed up. Sick.

He preys on people… everybody… even his parents.

His parents are STUPID!!!!! OOooooverly protective and they
need to read my post to the story about the frat boys….

      Stupid!!!!!

    98. Patti on November 10th, 2006 11:01 pm

Pluuuuuus!!!! IMPORTANT POINT Get the brothers talking.

They were tricked into the disposal of Ms. Natalee’s body.
      I am sure of that.

    99. Patti on November 10th, 2006 11:02 pm

Or at least they think they were.

    100. Patti on November 10th, 2006 11:53 pm

What I mean by that is that IF they were really concerned,
they wouldn’t be there. But all of America is aware of
the case of Ms. Natalee and if nothing else, they would
look at the material and MAYBE hand it out. I know I
      would.

and the cruise Company’s DO want to make themselves LOOK
concerned. After I read it, it didn’t sound right. How
much energy does it take to carry a stack of papers and
leave them around??? That’s the least ANYBODY could do.

and I just wanted someone to know. Do with it what you want. It is only my opinion. I am not a doctor.
