9/11 Remembered: Victims, Hero’s and Families … God Bless them All

In a time in which there is too much discussion as to separation of Church and State and the attempt by many to take prayer out of everything … we are presented with 9/11.

9-11 Cross

So many people on this day five years ago prayed, many of them for the first time. Prayers from those who knew of their impending doom, fireman, police, rescue workers and family members alike. In church services across the country this past Sunday; pastors, priests, reverends and rabbi all referenced faith and prayer during the events of 9/11 and for many after.

To all those who lost loved ones, family and friends on that fateful day, our prayers were with you that day and still are. God Bless you and yours always.

A Mighty Fortress in Our God

A mighty fortress is our God,
A bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and pow’r are great,
And, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God’s own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And tho’ this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph thro’ us.
The Prince of Darkness grim—
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly pow’rs,
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Thro’ Him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

      Just a few questions for you to chew on:

      Do you really think that if there is a god – ostensibly the omnipotent, omniscient creator of the entire universe – that said deity takes sides in the ephemeral machinations of one country or another on a tiny speck of dust in a remote corner of one of thousands of galaxies? (Ever seen these baseball players who kiss their fingers and point to the sky after they get a hit? Uh-huh, that’s how silly it is to think that god pulls for England, or Rome, or America, or Germany, etc.)

      After the millions of humans who have been exterminated, slaughtered, liquidated just in the last 200 years, let alone all of human history, do you really think there is a god?

      Just curious: is your god a republican or a democrat? A sadist or just plain impotent?

      When human beings stop believing in (and killing over) the bogey man, Santa Claus, god, allah, and all the other fictions of our very young race, we’ll have to believe in ourselves.

      Now THAT’s a day worth working towards.
