Does GVC and Steve Croes Know One Another or the Three Suspects? Connect the Dots

Sometimes you do not need Seven Degrees of Separation to connect individuals. Sometimes it takes even less to connect the dots.

Do Geoffrey van Cromvoirt and Steve Croes know one another? Pictured above, they seem to. The also worked in close proximity in the tourist area with regards to beach/water sports. The also have managed to retain the same attorney in Aruba when detained.

Geoffrey van Cromvoirt’s lawyer Eline Lotter-Homan sent the following press release to refute any erroneous information that may be circulating on the street about her client and his family.

Croes, who was detained June 17, will be released Monday, said his lawyer, Eleni Lotter-Homan.

Another remarkable thing is that one day Steve Croes (the DJ) is Deepak’s friend, and another day, he doesn’t know him! Joran said that he doesn’t know who is Steve and that he had no sort of friendship with him and that it was Deepak who came with him to give his false testimony that they dropped off Natalee at the Holiday Inn, incriminating the two security guards unnecessarily. (Diario:3/6/06)

VAN SUSTEREN: Coming up, another arrest was made in the Holloway case but party boat DJ Steve Croes was he an innocent bystander or was he part of a conspiracy?

Then came a new development. Police arrested an Aruban DJ who worked on the party boat Tattoo. We sat down with Joran van der Sloot and asked him about Steve Croes.(excerpts from transcript of Joran’s interview with Greta Van Susteren)

(Steve Croes in Carlos N’ Charlies circa 3/25/05)

VAN SUSTEREN: You don’t know this guy?

VAN DER SLOOT: I don’t know this guy and I never talked to him before in my life.

VAN SUSTEREN: Do you know if Deepak knows him?

VAN DER SLOOT: I don’t know if Deepak knew him. All that happened this one day he called me and he said, you know, “I got the jackpot” and I was like “Yes, what happened?” He’s like, “Oh, don’t worry. I’m going to come — I’m going to come to your house and tell you.”

(from secretly recorded police transcript:  Joran says to the brothers: You called by telephone saying that ‘I’ (the ‘I’ here is referring to one of the Kalpoe brothers) hit the jackpot. You said by telephone: “I hit the f****** jackpot.” You forgot that the telephone was tapped.)

And then he came to me and he said that someone had come up to him and said that he saw us, that he’d seen us drop the girl off at the Holiday Inn and that he would — and that, yes, if there was anything he’d testify to that to police. That’s what Deepak told me. So, I was like, you know, OK. That’s great.

VAN DER SLOOT: Yes, you know, he talked to the — I don’t know what – - I wasn’t there when he talked to Steve Croes. I don’t know what went along with him but, you know, he just talked to Deepak and he came, yes, and that Steve Croes ended up saying that he saw us dropping Natalee off at the Holiday Inn. And they talked for — I mean they held him for ten days too. I mean that’s — that’s not — that’s not fun to be in jail at all. They talked to him for ten days.

VAN SUSTEREN: But he had — but he had lied. I mean they caught him in that lie.

VAN SUSTEREN: …told you the story about the Tattoo boat. Did you ask him how he knew the guy?

VAN DER SLOOT: No, he told me he didn’t know the guy.

VAN SUSTEREN: The guy just spontaneously came up to him?

VAN DER SLOOT: Yes, at work. That’s what he told me. The guy (INAUDIBLE) came up to him at work and told him that.

VAN SUSTEREN: I assume you thought that was odd.

VAN DER SLOOT: I don’t know. I don’t know. I mean I don’t know if that’s true or not. I never met the guy before.

Joran Fredd and Deepak

(Joran, Freddie and Deepak; Spring Break 3/05)

Freddie gets brought into the mix and possible involvement as Deepak says to Joran that, “Freddy has to say the truth”. What truth would that be?

J says to D: What did you say that Freddy has to be detained?
D says to J: That Freddy has to say the truth.
J says to D: You know very well that Freddy told the truth.
S says to J: You’ll see, you’ll see.

Paulas Van der Sloot creates the connection between the Kalpoe’s and himself by  setting up the attorneys for Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. Does anyone else really wonder what other advice Paulas gave Deepak and Satish, let a lone his own son?

J says to D: My friend, the only thing my father wanted to do was to help you.
J says to D: My father only wanted to help you. My father even arranged a lawyer for you.
J says to D: And this is how you pay him back.
J says to D (angry): I have to give you both a klap/wanta [punch in the face?]

Joran VDS and Paulas

(Paulas and Joran Van der Sloot)

It had been a concern from the beginning that Paulas Van der Sloot would be advising his son on what to and what not to say. And the famous “no body, no crime” statement that Paulas claimed he never said. It appears it was true as Joran says, “the only thing he (Joran’s father) said that if there’s no body there don’t have a case.”

S says to J: I didn’t declare anything.
J says to the brothers: Of course you did.
S says to J: What did I say / against your father?
J says to the brothers: You said that he (Joran’s father) said that if there’s no corpse there’s no case, or I don’t know what more sorts of shit.
J says to the brothers: That’s not true, the only thing he (Joran’s father) said that if there’s no body there don’t have a case.
D says to J: That’s true.

J says to the brothers: That’s your problem.
J says to the brothers: If they find the girl, then they will see the shit.
D says to J: 8 more days and I’m going home, I guarantee you this 1000 per cent.
J says to D: We will see.
D says to J: You don’t give a shit about your family members.
J says to D: The only thing I can think about is my family, I am doing what my family told me to do.
