Dave Holloway Responds to Letter To Governor Riley regarding the Natalee Holloway Investigation

Dave Holloway appeared on Scarborough Country, November 7, 2005 to discuss the recent letter that was sent to AL Governor Bob Riley from The Aruban Department of Foreign Affairs.

“The chief prosecutor leading the investigation and the General Prosecutor are appointed by the Kingdom Government in the Hague. Because of separation of powers, the government of Aruba has no authority to intervene in the investigation.”

Dept. of Foreign Affairs, Nov. 4

It appears now that the Aruban investigators and government after five months are pointing the family across the seas to Holland. One would think they maybe this could have been done sooner. As Dave Holloway stated,

Well, that’s really unbelievable that they take the wash their hands approach.
We’re going to proceed on with The Hague, I guess. Also, our six page letter we were asked to provide to the Attorney General and we provided a carbon copy to the PM and Condoleezza Rice. We have not heard a response to that letter yet.

Well, that seems to be the case. We’ve been running around in circles for five months now. When we reduce it down to writing, they put it back in writing and it’s obvious they are pointing the finger somewhere else now.

This is a rather interesting turn of events as it relates to Dave Holloway. Dave had previously stated that he was the last of the hold outs for the investigators to do the right thing. Dave Holloway is a patient man and was willing for the ALE and prosecutors to take their time and come up with a sound and complete case against the suspects in the disappearance of his daughter Natalee. Everyone and I mean everyone respected and sided with Dave Holloway for his calm and rational approach to finding clues, leads and formulating a case in Natalee’s disappearance. Those that bashed Beth Twitty sided with Dave whether they were in America, Aruba or elsewhere. The thought does come to mind, what do these people say now? The calm, cool, practical and patient Dave Holloway has been obviously pushed to the point where even he cannot remain patient or confident in how he sees the case being handled by Aruban authorities. Do those same people who agreed with Dave’s patient approach when it differed slightly from how Beth Twitty handled matters still side with Dave? Or did they only side with Dave because he differed from Beth looking to divide and conquer?

Take a look and see how the once patient Dave Holloway have to say regarding the present affair of the investigation.

Well, that seems to be the case. We’ve been running around in circles for five months now. When we reduce it down to writing, they put it back in writing and it’s obvious they are pointing the finger somewhere else now.

Mind you, the minister of justice had mentioned about a month ago that he felt like this would … just leave it alone and it will go away. So we know what his approach is now.

Well, he’s attacked Beth in some sense by putting out on the island that she might be involved somehow in Natalee’s disappearance and making money off of it. So it looks to me that he’s trying to incite anti Beth sentiment across the country of Aruba.

If anyone truly wants to see just how frustrated and infuriated the Aruban authorities have managed to make Dave Holloway one only needs to see how Dave responded to the boycott question from Joe Scarborough.

Dave: Well, the people of Aruba have elected their officials and their officials have spoken. We have elected officials and we’ll let our elected officials speak.

Joe: Will you make any requests of the elected officials to possibly move forward with a boycott of Aruba?

Dave: Well, again Joe, we elect our officials and they decide what is necessary for the people. Whatever the governor decides, that’s what we’ll do.

I think we can all read through the lines to see just where Dave Holloway was going with his answers.

For more of the interview: Hat Tip: SMS

Joe: Another strange twist in the Holloway story tonight. Aruba authorities have sent a letter to Alabama Governor Bob Riley that may make a new investigation even harder to move forward with. The letter says in part:

“The chief prosecutor leading the investigation and the General Prosecutor are appointed by the Kingdom Government in the Hague. Because of separation of powers, the government of Aruba has no authority to intervene in the investigation.”

Dept. of Foreign Affairs, Nov. 4

Source: Dept of Foreign Affairs, Aruba

Joining us is Dave Holloway.

Joe: After all these months you and your family have been suffering, you find out that the Aruba authorities claim they have absolutely no say in this investigation?
Where do you go from here?

Dave: Well, that’s really unbelievable that they take the wash their hands approach.
We’re going to proceed on with The Hague, I guess. Also, our six page letter we were asked to provide to the Attorney General and we provided a carbon copy to the PM and Condoleezza Rice. We have not heard a response to that letter yet.

Joe: Dave, I’ve been asking the question for months on people down on the ground down in Aruba who has the power to run this investigation? Who has the power to hire? Who has the power to fire? Who has the power to subpoena? Nobody seems to know. This really does look like a banana republic down there. Anytime anyone gets cornered down there, they just point the finger across the Atlantic.

Dave: Well, that seems to be the case. We’ve been running around in circles for five months now. When we reduce it down to writing, they put it back in writing and it’s obvious they are pointing the finger somewhere else now.

Joe: So you are I guess at the end of the line as far as dealing with the Aruba authorities? Now you just have to take up with the Dutch government?

Dave: That’s what it appears to be. With the Dutch government and with the Attorney General. Mind you, the minister of justice had mentioned about a month ago that he felt like this would … just leave it alone and it will go away. So we know what his approach is now.

Joe: The new chief investigator, someone that you all looked forward to having on but now Dompig seems actually to be as big an obstacle as anything. He’s actually come out and attacked you all, hasn’t he?

Dave: Well, he’s attacked Beth in some sense by putting out on the island that she might be involved somehow in Natalee’s disappearance and making money off of it.
So it looks to me that he’s trying to incite anti Beth sentiment across the country of Aruba.

Joe: You know Dave we’re so frustrated, I know you all just have to be beyond yourselves right now. The question a lot of people are asking is what can we do?
Is this the time we go to Governor Riley and other people and talk about a possible boycott of Aruba? Is it that time yet or are you all going to play this out a little longer?

Dave: Well, the people of Aruba have elected their officials and their officials have spoken. We have elected officials and we’ll let our elected officials speak.

Joe: Will you make any requests of the elected officials to possibly move forward with a boycott of Aruba?

Dave: Well, again Joe, we elect our officials and they decide what is necessary for the people. Whatever the governor decides, that’s what we’ll do.

Joe: Okay thank you so much Dave Holloway. As always, know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you and your entire family. Friends it sounds like a show down is coming. Can you believe after 5 months of this family going through this private hell … this personal hell … and after all of this time it just keeps getting pushed around.
They are getting no answers. They get to the point where there is a new investigator they believe they are going to get answers on how their daughter disappeared and most likely died. Right as they push them right to the wall, the Aruba authorities say wait a second, we’ve got no authority. I tell you what; I’m not waiting for the government. We’re going to look into a boycott sometime soon.

The evidence in this case has been suppressed. The truth of what happened has been covered up. We have to hope The Hague will see their way through this mess and the Holloway-Twittys will have closure–if not justice.

What an incapable Justice System in Aruba, to put it mildly.
I hope Dave and Beth persue this to Holland.

I’ve never met Joe Mammana, and though he has a FEW incidents in his past like so many of us, he’s done so more good in our society to help others that I’d trust being in his presence more that I would with anyone in the Aruban LE and Judical officials.

I also think the Holloway-Twittys have really done absolutely everything possible with regards to trying to find answers in Aruba; and Aruba needs to seek the answers from the Hague, not the Holloway-Twittys. It’s Aruba mistake, not the Holloway-Twittys. By going to the Hague you will draw it out for another few years and probably just get letter stating they are sorry; but that’s it. The suspects will be free and the Aruban LE will just laugh it off.

The Aruban gov’t has given the family the run around for 5 months and insulted them beyond the comparison. The Hague never intervened and never raised their hand or voice to stop it – that’s show you what little remorse the Netherlands has for human rights and dignity – none.

I think the family should go after a full boycott of Aruba and whatever else their supporters could get done.

Many people in Aruba appear to have the opinion that ANY discussion of a violent crime having been commit against Natalee H. would be bad for the Aruban tourist business.

Instead of fielding a true criminal investigation into Natalee’s disappearance, the Aruba investigation appears to be on the level for somebody got drunk, passed out and didn’t make it home for breakfast by the next morning.

The problem with the Aruba’s approach is its been months and Natalee has not made it back home.

The Aruba officials are deeply concerned – they might eventually have to stop their own partying and frequent vacations and actually do some professional work – something which they do not appear to be eager to do.

    5. Richard on November 7th, 2005 11:34 pm

Aruba has been given far too much time and far too much latitude to do something, anything … and all that it has done is dither and wring its hands.

I’m with Joe Mammama on this one … we don’t want an eye for an eye, we want two eyes for an eye. Let’s suspend any aid and other assistance that we may provide Aruba … and let’s look around for another base for our anti-drug efforts.

And I’m going to write to my legislators once again to urge that Congress pass a non-binding resolution calling on Americans not to visit Aruba.

I can’t imagine that our people we fail to heed the moral issues involved. If we can’t unite behind an American family in the face of this deceit, then perhaps we really are doomed to follow the path of the Roman Empire and decay … but I somehow don’t think so.

It was reported on Rita Cosby that they WILL announce a boycott in the morning. Good for them!!

If you go on Scarborough’s website there is a link to write your state officials (bottom right corner). I wrote mine and asked them to support the great state of Alabama in the boycott!

I just can’t believe that, first, the government of Aruba, and now the Dutch government are going to let four thugs (Paulus Vandersloot, Joran Vandersloot, Depak Kalpoe, and Satish Kalpoe) continue to make this situation spin more and more out of control.
Somebody better get a grip here.
      This is just totally unacceptable!
If the Aruban government is not in charge, why didn’t they say that from the beginning?
If the Dutch government has had jurisdiction from the beginning, why haven’t they let it be known?
Now, the Aruban officials aren’t just trying to make fools of the US, they’re making the Dutch look like inept fools.

      Boycott Boycott Boycott Boycott Boycott!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless there is some earth shattering news this will probably be my last contribution to comments. I have downloaded and examined over two hundred photos and maps which if anyone wants them you can have them. Some are copyrighted but I’m not using them for financial gain and the credits are included where required. The only conclusion I have been able to arrive at is the following scenario and that Natalee is somewhere in a deserted mine shaft near the Balashi Gold Mine Ruins. What suprises me is when I read Shango’s comments, we agreed on almost 80% on what happened. Although I am not a detective or psychic, there have been so many things that I have seen, resolved or predicted that I don’t know what to call it. I do believe I’m right in what I write and yet deep down I hope I’m wrong.
Natalee where ever you may be “rest in peace” your time will come.
Lets try to put a few things in perspective and try to develop a scenario concerning Natalee’s last few days. This will be very lengthly.
Looking at Natalee’s picture with her friends on the beach, she appears to be a social hanger rather than a social climber. She appears shy and not street wise at all. Her classmates apparently are jealous of her scholastic accomplishments. In the activities videos, Natalee is not in sync with everyone else. She wants to be noticed. Her female classmates want to ignore her. Again look at her last beach photo and see how she is barely holding on to her classmate. By the way who was her room-mate at the Holiday?
Everything that is presently being discussed is the last hours before Natalee had disappeared. She was there for at least five other days and nights. What happened during those days and especially the nights?
I feel J…. came on real strong and Natalee was taken up by the attention she got. She may have even have gone to bed with him. Let’s say one night they were together gambling and Natalee lost some money and was worried how to pay it back. J…. gets the temporary ok from the casino but payback time is May 30th. J…. tells Natalee that something bad is going to happen to him unless her gambling debt is paid off. He tells Natalee that all will be forgiven and no one will get hurt if she poses for some nude photos. Here J…. really shows the predator and conniver that he is. Reluctantly though very naà ¯ve, Natalee agrees. She is told that she will be disguised and no one will recognize her. J…. is a “party boy” in the rave scene and takes her to an after hours club with the brothers. The four never made it to the beach. Strange as it may seem but this Rave Club is only a few blocks away from a local Police Station or what was a Police Station. At this underground after hours/sex club she is prepped for the film shoot. She is given a drink with either XTC or a drug easily available in Aruba and the drug scene called a “ROOFI”. However this film shoot is not just a nude shoot, it is a gang rape snuff video filmed by F. During the filming, there are too many taking advantage of Natalee and it gets out of hand and Natalee is choked to death. Or at least becomes very comatose. The duct tape and hair samples are probably Natalee’s as what was found has not been attributed to any one else. It is anybody’s guess as to what happened to Natalee’s clothing. There are some sick people out there that would collect and save the clothing as a trophy. The three that brought Natalee leave. The owners of the club get in touch with VS, an elected official who basically has closed his eyes to the happenings in the club. They tell him they have an accident there and they have to dispose of someone. VS finds out that his godson J…. was involved and calls father P….. He comes over and the body is removed from the “Maze”(club) in his pick up truck. The brothers are telling the truth at least once. “If they knew where the body was, they would tell the authorities”. They really don’t know. Their stories or lies have been used to take pressure off those that were responsible for Natalee’s disappearing. Only P….. ,VS and few others know for sure where her body is. Even SHANGO, who knows where they initially took Natalee, does not know where her body is. However reference to the streets not paved with gold could refer to the abandoned gold mines. One psychic said that initially Natalee was taken to a deserted house that is in line with three points on the horizon. If you stand on the Balashi Gold Mine ruins, you can see this house and the three points in the distance.
I believe that the local authorities thought this would blow over and after a few weeks everyone would go home and forget what happened to Natalee. J….’s god father, VS is a very close friend of P….. and they both contrived another story to try and show the three that left with Natalee are not guilty and take the heat off the real persons that may have contributed to Natalee’s disappearance.
So after five months we are back to the same players and scenario. A local club, Natalee, the father and party boy son, two brothers, a selector and the filmer, an after hours club, DNA evidence not uncovered and still at the club, a piece of missing jewelry which when discovered will be extremely damaging, a corrupt Government official, a porn distributor, a very sick and dangerous group of predators and drug dealers, a video that goes wrong, a pick up truck and a burial underground near the Balashi Gold Mine Ruins. Try to piece this together for an ending. You can choose to believe it or not; only time will tell.
      Food for thought…………………….

Somewhere along the line started to dislike Beth.
Still hoping Nat would be alive or wishing for a decent and respectful closure for the family.
Always admired Dave’s attitude. He is a hell of a person.
      Someone I can respect.
Since he has cosigned that 6 page letter I feel assured that he must have good reasons for that.
I am an Aruban and feel that Dave has right to answers and all the clarity he can get from Aruban authorities.

Dave Holloway has shown the patience of Job. If he has thrown in the towel then we all should go after Aruba in a total way. Let’s face it, the people of Aruba can step up and do something. They have given their daughters willingly to the PIMPS and they know just what kind of place Aruba really is. They know that they do not have any law enforcement and they know that their government is totally corrupt. They let the PIMPS walk their streets without interference. Let them take action or action will be taken against them in a big way. Old saying,” people often don’t get the government that they want, they get the government that they deserve”.

    13. star on November 8th, 2005 10:19 am

I think it is time that all of you realize and start reporting the truth about this whole incident! They didn’t just bungle this investigation. I think a lot of these people in the lower levels of law enforcement wanted to get the truth and convictions in this matter. THIS IS A COVERUP. Every time someone brave enough comes forward, be it officials or witnesses, all of a sudden they are shut down and they head south. This is a coverup from the top by corrupt judges and officials and I guess they think the world is blind? The top officials, VDS’s “friends” DO NOT CARE if the island of Aruba is boycotted or anything else. It really has little to do with them, as they are off in the Netherlands. They are just protecting their own, guilty as they are. The only reason Deepak broke loose with his mouth is because he is a loose cannon. You notice he has disappeared from view all of a sudden and has shut up. Besides he was part of the group who caused this problem and he is guilty as hell, BUT he probably doesn’t know where the body is! You will have to ask PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT and WHOEVER HELPED HIM DISPOSE OF THE BODY WHERE SHE IS! I don’t think the “boys” were part of that. As for the Kalpoes and the other young men involved(excluding baby Joran) “they” will only ensure them protection from any of this if they keep their mouths shut! If we “offered him what he asked Jamie Skeeters for on that video along with Asylum in the U.S. he would crack like a nut! After all he acts like gang material I bet he would crack like a nut
This whole thing is s obvious it is sickening! I suppose those who want justice for Natalee can pray for the following:

By an act of nature and Gods help, her body surfaces
The U.S. government gets sick of the crap by the Dutch and decides that they will not have s–t smeared in the face of a U.S. citizen anymore, by another government like it has been so far in this case.
The citizens of America, most especially all Mothers and Fathers, in the names of their own chidren, get behind the Holloway/Twitty’s, and make such a LOUD OUTCRY about this, that the Dutch are too embarrassed NOT to do something about these guilty people!

    22. roy on November 8th, 2005 3:56 pm

Most comments are superficial and unproductive.
Everyone has the right to call for a Boycott. I fail to see how this will lead to anything positive for Natalee nad her family.

    23. Corinne on November 8th, 2005 3:59 pm

Perhaps this is “old” news for the day, however, it’s the first I’ve heard an official announcement.
FOX News just released Breaking News….Governor Riley has formally called for a boycott on Aruba.
I believe this is just the beginning and how ridiculous that this could have been avoided if only the Aruban, or Dutch government (or whoever the heck is in charge) would have handled this case properly.
The next course of action should be finally letting Joe Mamana and his team loose to get the answers from Paulus and Joran Vandersloot and the Kalpoe brothers that will lead to bringing Natalee home.
After all, that is all Natalees family has wanted from the beginning … to take Natalee home.
I think Aruba just never imagined that America will do ANYTHING to make sure that happens.

    24. g on November 8th, 2005 4:08 pm

I am for the boycott at this point, but think it’s sad as well that the everyday Arubans will suffer …but not the retired Police Chief who started the cover up circle…. who is now coincidentally in the same place as Joran and his daddy!! Kassie…. that is also a possibility but not likely. Too much info points the other direction from the parties involved. Besides, someone from the U.S. might see her in a brothel somewhere and the vds and friends could not afford to have her talk?
Bluesky…… probably won’t be long before you won’t have to worry about Beth or anyone else frolicking on those white beaches of Aruba!
THIS BOYCOTT MUST EXTEND TO THE NETHERLANDS! In case we didn’t notice, the main suspect(s) were hustled TO the Netherlands. The judges were FROM the Netherlands. The coverup originated AMONG the DUTCH! VDS’s friends!

      Kassie and Roy,
Have you seen the Videos #1 to #8? They were posted on this web site around Oct. 12, they were shocking to me. It looks like a body was found. On June 11, the Dutch and Aruban Authorities erroenously announced they found Natalee’s body. It is possible it was Natalee’s body near the lighthouse. There were 2 men that looked like pathologist, one had a mask on and was kneeling on the ground, the other one had knee pads on. It looked like they were doing an autopsy. It looked like they were there for a long time. Two police men came later, could be Jacobs and Dompig. The person in the aqua shirt could have been a women and could have been Karin Janssen. That person kept looking all around the site, possibly to find all the evidence, to destroy it, she/he missed the belt, that was found later by Equusearch, which was given to the Polis, it was believed to be Joran’s. The Polis put it in a drawer and said they would test it, they didn’t and as far as we know they destroyed it. If that was Natalee’s body, Paulus knew Joran’s DNA would be found on her body and they had to dispose of the body. Cover-up, Cover-up
Maybe one of the pathologist will come forward.

    34. maiwee on November 9th, 2005 5:23 am

Beth has no choice but to fight on behalf of her daughter by calling for a boycott. The US government should actually order a travel ban to Aruba until the case is solved. Even Dave now believes there is a massive cover up. The question is why are they covering up, what issues are at stake and who is driving the cover up and why.All we have been witnessing are games being played by the investigating team, they give you the impression something is coming up soon , knowing well that they are just buying time. They cannot use this trick anymore, people now know what is happening. My guess is the boys are guilty in any scenario, be it a drugging-kidnap-rape and murder then body disposal or a drugging-kidnapping and sex slave scenario. The boys played key roles in either senario. It appears Paul Sloot would spiil the beans about drug related crimes by senior officials if him or his son are convicted. He obvious may know a lot by virtue of his position in the judiciary. This is where the catch is. Aruban authorities would rather go through a boycott than get exposed on drug dealing crimes. So the ordinary Aruban would suffer for the sins of the few. This happens, even god punishes us for the sins of our fathers. The resolution of Natalee’s case lies in official exposure of those behind the cover up. This is the secret to the case.

Aruba has done its utmost best, they have frozen the island for all workers to go find this girl……..I m sorry from my heart of what happened, not knowing where your daughter is….You can go judge, but what about all those other people missing in the US, do you add value to there dissappearence……..Why dont you see that on TV, why dont they focus as hard on them as on this matter…….We are not God, but we know they did whatever we can…..even F-16 flew….in search of Nathalee….House and Lodging all free for Mrs. Twitty, transportation no charge either…CEA, FBI…..all were involved……..One question…….how is it posible for someone any one, man or girl, to just jump in the car with strangers? Isnt it the lesson our parents teaches us: never talk to strangers? or even watch your drink? etc…..Is this a setup… maybe a plan…..for the dissappearance, so she is declared not alive….and then to go get the insurrance money.???..How many cases has been like this….What about the 10 year old american boy, that dissappeared couple of years ago , only found the uncle alive in the ocean…..After INTERPOL did their investigation……they were found all happy…. family together with the little boy back in Brazil…..then again he did collect the insurrance money…unfortunately they didnt enjoy it for long,.
..How is it possible for Nathalee’s friends to just go and never interrogated, lets flip the other side of the coin…..HAVE THEY CHANGED THEIR ALIBI??………I think there are more PIMPS walking around in the US…….MAy god bless everyone…….and keep faith that Nathalee will be found..
